Staying away from TV is fine (I don't watch TV much anyway) but internet and phone... I don't know how this can possibly be done, for me at least.

IMO the best way to reduce stress is to play sports. It is said that people who do exercises every day can help reduce their stress levels significantly.

You're right of course.  Staying away from screens is very difficult for me too.  I also agree with sports.  I find that if I spend some time in the day in the outdoors, walking or doing things that I like to do with getting exercise, not only do I sleep better but I sleep deeper too. My mind also seems to be much sharper and relaxed.
I would drink a lot of water and exercise for a bit to reduce stress.
