Hello there, Hope everyone is doing fine in this ongoing pandemic.
Last year, I bought a OVH Singapore VPS last year for my TeamSpeak3 and my CSGO Server. The specs of the VPS is as follows.
  • CPU : Intel Core Processor (Haswell, no TSX) @ 1 vCore
  • RAM : 2GB
  • HDD : 20GB SSD
  • Network : 100MBps
  • Bandwidth : Unmetered
  • Virtualization : KVM
My main focus of this VPS to host my TeamSpeak3 Server and to get minimal average ping. Pakistani players usually gets 80 Ping on SEA Servers. Bandwidth is unlimited and no matter how many DDoS attacks you face your VPS will not be suspended (duh i know its OVH just adding this sentence for someone whos gonna buy it)

DDoS Protection (Details):
  • I have been using this VPS for i believe 1-2 years now and it really gets my job time and my uptime most of the time is 100%, Last year i got ddosed which was really heavy which led to downtime of my TeamSpeak3 Server only, I have noticed whenever i get ddosed the game server gets down but the VPS itself works fine like the speed and everything and soon it comes back after sending the ticket to OVH (To which they replied like a week after), They did some updates to my VPS which they didn't disclosed it i'm not sure why but since then i didn't received a single ddos, I usually get emails that a DDoS Attack has been start on your IP and it is being mitigated, Nothing happens over the server. When i frist brought the server i thought 100m/bit is not gonna be enough but yes it is really enough now and it gets my job done.
  • I also have a Floating IP which cost me like 0$ now, The first charge is 2$ per IP, Then it only shows in the invoice but shows as 0$ so it's fairly good for me. There is no GAME Protection Available but it works fine for many games though and against many stressers/booters paid ones. Well how do i know this one of my rival actually disclosed which booter he was using and it was really strong but it didn't work on my VPS though. So recommendation for OVH
Pros:
  • You get unlimited bandwidth.
  • You get a really good uptime.
  • You get a decent DDoS Protection.
  • Multiple Images Available with latest Kernel.
  • FailOver IPs Available for 2$ only first month.
  • Solid Performance in Game Servers (Tested CSGO , Minecraft - Which really eats up CPU alot)
Cons:
  • Support really sucks! (They really take an eternityto reply)
  • Re-installing OS takes really long
  • Rebooting takes really long

Rating:
  • DDoS Protection : 8/10
  • VPS Performance : 10/10
  • Uptime : 10/10
  • Control Panel : 6/10
  • Support : 4/10
I hope you enjoyed reading this.

P.S : I literally wrote this thread in November 2020 and saved it as a draft i never ever got time to complete it xD
Nice review! I agree that their support definitely sucks, it took me a week to have a faulty VPS transfer manually done from my friend. But yes, the quality of hardware is unmatched.

I've been a OVH customer before and their VPSes are solid just that they need to look into their customer service for perfection.

Totally agree, The quality of Hardware is seriously unmatched. Honeslty, The support was really good but at times like 2017-2018, I had a Europe VPS and the support ticket response time was like 1-2 hours for me back then. I had many issues back then with the VPS i dont know why.
They have made this support levels which i really hate it now because like Tier 1 Support customers does not even get a reply at all?
I remember i had an issue with a invoice link which was not opening and i needed to pay urgently, So i contacted on phone they didn't pickup i contacted them on ticket they literally did not respond at all for like 7 months, After 7 months i received a email, I hope the issue is resolved for you and my ticket was closed i was like what even is that support man.

Indeed the only part which is annoying about the service is their support. I've not been a customer since as long as you, but yes the situation I described earlier was in mid last year. Their support is pathetic. I'm sure they are aware of this too, but they do not really seem to bother. Other companies with as many clients as their take customer service quite seriously. I honestly do not understand their business strategies.

I'm sure you're right about them not really caring that their support is iffy.  Gigarocket moved away from them in 2018 because of really bad support. And that was for the Europe region.  Like a simple issue just to get more IPs.  There was ZERO response, not even a confirmation of receipt of request.  Additional IPs were part of the contract we had with OVH.  Looks like lack of support is just collateral damage for them.  Which to me is a bit arrogant.  So as a matter of principle I won't look at any OVH offerings. Interesting to see the lack of support goes for OVH Asia as well.
Nice review ! I always wanted to get OVH VPS since its Singapore location is very cheap if we compare with DO or Vultr. For 2GB RAM VPS it's only $6/mo while the other are asking for $10/mo. Well, the support sucks but as long as I'm having a VPS I rarely ask for support since to this time I can still handle anything by myself.

Another downside for Singapore VPS from OVH, AFAIK, is the connection speed. They only give 250 Mbps which is around ~30MBps. Might be suck for visitor from US but if our user are in Asia I think it's fine.

Indeed mine was Europe region to, it was a France VPS to be more specific. Well ultimately the transfer went through on it's own, after a week or so they replied the same that "We hope your issued has been resolved. The ticket is being closed. If you have any concern, please feel free to reopen it. Thank you for using OVH." What the heck!?

Though I think I should consider myself lucky after hearing your and 's experience, at least I received a response in a week rather than after months or not at all. Troll

EDIT: All the more some of my friends on Discord offer the same and even cheaper prices than them for the same specs. So I do not see any point in using their servers when I can get that for the same cost packed with an excellent support.
Long time when I was interested to buy a vps from ovh they asked to using credit card since there is no debit card payment option for Indian users which really made me suprise I even asked them I will pay via PayPal using my international debit card but they ignored it just by saying "you have to do payment using valid credit card no debit card ,if you continue to do payment via debit card we don't accept the payment and there will be no refund" then I changed my mind to buy a vps from ovh !

The only reason I would recommend OVH is because the price. But if your friends on Discord offer cheaper, may I know what his companies/website is? Also, are they experienced guy like one in OVH?

Well, in OVH we know that they're "reliable" since most VPS providers actually a reseller from OVH VPS. So buying from first hand will be cheaper than from second hand. The support is pretty funny tho finding no responds at all from the tickets. I'm wondering what their staff actually do.

He doesn't have a website, his name is Austin and he offers VPSes on his dedis.

Let's say if we were to compare vs OVH, well he offers 2GB RAM, 1 vCPU and 25GB SSD storage for $2.5 a month. That's certainly cheap than the $6 at OVH, even if we say that OVH offers 40GB NVMe. For most people the type of storage doesn't matter much except the amount of storage as such. All the more my SSDs have much better benchmarks than those in the OP honestly.

Besides that he offers a 1 Gbps shared uplink compared to 250 Mbps at OVH. Let's say even if OVH offers dedicated uplink, still my friends network never fails as far as I've seen, also it's always 900 Mbps+

Moreover he's a sysadmin and highly reliable. Smile
