@deanhills Agreed GoDaddy price might higher compare to other registrar but like I said if this is only for project purposes he can buy from cheap registrar somewhere.

Their renewal price is $8.89 for a .com So you are toally wrong unless you find 8.89 is extremely high renewal fee. Anyway I'm interested to know what's .com renewal fee at NameCheap. I couldn't find it in their site. They do have nice offer for those new domain extensions. ))

There are so many places which have cheaper renewal prices and better support than 1&1. Even Godaddy is better than them since their renewal price is about $14. I think Namecheap renewal price for .coms is between 10-12 usd.
