I experienced the same problem too but mine is in google chrome, I do also has bulk bookmarks, histories and etc. What I did is I just clear them all and tada! it works like fresh again.

Yes Definitely it's true. Mozilla Firefox is hanging on newer Version. even i have 4GB RAM exterded Graphics. Core2duo Family Latest machine. but it's going to hate. hang over hang every 2 to 5 min, or continuously. i check it on different PC's but same. it was an technical problem. hope will fixed soon.

mine only hang if i scroll a lot on facebook or similar website that refresh every scroll instead of giving page naviigation . and that is same for all browser
i think they do that because well they think all people have a lot of ram but in reality IS NOT

I don't have the problem anymore since i have formatted the PC several times since I first posted here. I think the problem related to Flash and Memory usage of Firefox. Memory Management is not something this browser is good at. Also I noticed this doesn't happen in freshly installed computers. Just happen after a while, mostly I think after Firefox crashes few times.

flash is a resource hug . and firefox keep all the tab in the same process so that why it is doesnt have good memory management

Firefox started having a freeze problem after around 2012. It already takes forever to start it and it keeps freezing when you have more than two tabs open at a time. They keep on adding features but it is not very stable.
