RE: Post4VPS Database Problem - Dynamo - 06-23-2016 (06-23-2016, 05:14 PM)xdude Wrote: Dynamo you need to setup automated backup process using cron or using a myBB plugin and take a daily backup or a backup twice a day. We all know we can never relay on Hosting Providers for having regular backups. Specially when it comes to an active forum. It has now work arounds. I guess you are right, we are now using a bash script which use to backup daily(with help of cron) all forum files and database and shift it to some filestorage site.. RE: Post4VPS Database Problem - xdude - 06-24-2016 DataBase is what need to be backup often. This is what need to be backed up even two/three times a day. Forum files need to be backup once a while since those don't change often. RE: Post4VPS Database Problem - Honey - 06-24-2016 aww, that's sad, these sudden downtimes are a nightmare for a owner, I hope you can find a better hosting provider, you may try Host4Fun if you're not already hosting from the, I host my site from them and It only went down once but automatically came back in a few days! + they offer daily backups by their staff for just a few more bucks RE: Post4VPS Database Problem - Lampard - 06-24-2016 (06-24-2016, 05:14 PM)Honey Wrote: aww, that's sad, these sudden downtimes are a nightmare for a owner, I hope you can find a better hosting provider, you may try Host4Fun if you're not already hosting from the, I host my site from them and It only went down once but automatically came back in a few days! + they offer daily backups by their staff for just a few more bucks As you said it came back in few days, so it looks like it was a big downtime, still big downtimes are not good for these websites too. An main site thats down makes automatic your service baadly due that you failed to keep up your main site. That days nowadays RE: Post4VPS Database Problem - Conan - 06-26-2016 Make a daily backup. And don't use a webhost. Use a decent VPS then do daily backups. You can like attach gdrive/pcloud to your server as a filesystem then transfer tars of the database and the forum every midnight. THen just delete 1 week old backups. I'm doing that for my server and it's a decent backup solution. It should be fairly easy to do a script for that then cron it.
