It is undoubtful that the two countries are on a race - but why they compete on the vaccine?
For economic reasons I guess.
If one country wins the vaccine development race, then most other countries will purchase its vaccine as fast as possible, at any cost, almost.
So actually, not only the two countries, the U.S. and China are on the race. At least the U.K. and Russia are also on that race too.

This. Very much this. The Pharma Industry is powered by money, we saw that with the Epipen and HIV Medications. The country that controls the share of drugs with the most efficacy controls the health of the world and how much the world pays for it.

Thanks for the news.In earlier discussions in Zhihu(like quora) I found a passage* that seems to be objective(at least seems evident).The author think the virus might already exist in the environment for some time before the outbreak and it is just a coincidence.
In my opinion WHO's trip to China seems like visiting an guided exhibition - If we notice these destinations and the duriation the best conclusion the can get is "China controlled the virus" rather than commenting on the origin.

Like it's a "child" virus of SARS. But not as lethal as SARS.

Typical. Their version of damage control. Not sure that the world is that dumb to fall for it. Irritating too that member countries of the WHO have to pay for those visits.
