As you said it came back in few days, so it looks like it was a big downtime, still big downtimes are not good for these websites too.

tho is better the few days but few hours of downtime isn't good either, it can create huge problems for a production website

Good for Post4VPS it's didn't come during the giveaways. Would have cost many a VPS as I guess most will do a last time leap. I know some friends who use custom made scripts and get back on backup servers. A good idea to back up daily, though congrats for managing it well.

Very true. No machine as complex as a human. Does different things at different times for on same conditions. No way to predict at all.
