OpenVZ isn't really a virtualization but a container system.
I don't think OpenVZ is faster though. It depends on the situation and the provider.

Nothing is 100% secure.
If you host it on another location with internet access, expect it not to be 100% secure lol.

Openvz is better than KVM for game servers and web hosting because openvz eats less ram than kvm

I like kvm .. Full virtualization i mean. A lot of options at tinkering and experimenting with things. I love to do a lot of software testing setups and all.

I heard that even kvm has options for overselling. But it's harder to configure and use efficiently.

Depends really on what operating system you are going to use, for example, I would use OpenVZ if I'm going to use Linux operating system, as it doesn't eat much ram, otherwise I would use KVM, since it gives you more control over the virtual machine.

Here is a very good comparison: https://lowendbox.com/blog/openvz-xen-and-kvm-the-differences-the-advantages-a-comparison/

KVM is great for anyone who likes to have full control over their VPS, while OpenVZ is usually a good choice for anyone that don’t have special requirements and that’s why it is more affordable than KVM

RE: KVM vs OpenVZ - humanpuff69 - 04-18-2017

the biggest advantage of VPS that is not using openVZ like KVM , Xen , VMware and other is that you can install os other than linux . with open vz however you are stuck with linux

that is the main difference . if you really fine with linux openvz is great . but if you need other os you shold probably get away from oven vz

that is my opinion . comment your opinion below

OpenVZ can only host Linux Operating System and KVM can host Linux, Windows and other custom operating systems.

and that is because openVZ is technically not a "virtualization" rather it is container so it use same kernel and because of that openVZ is limited to linux

for Xen and VMware it uses real Virtualization so you can run basically anything x86 compatible operating system
