true. smartphones dont need 2 cameras for optical zoom.
Also, beware of those phones who dont really have 2 cameras. Some of the "dual camera" phones just uses a "dummy" camera.

Xiaomi Redme phones are recently launched in our country local market. and good output. after 2017 mostly 80 to 90% smartphones have dual camera. so we can't have any other way to neglect them. and i heard that nokia 9 is launching with 3 rear cams.

The best one, which is about to release in my country, Redmi Note 5 Pro, has dual cameras and has an iPhone X look!

Are you going to buy it @Lampard? I sometimes wonder whether one only purchases the product, or the whole package that includes plenty of support by the owner such as Samsung or Apple. Like if anything goes wrong with a Samsung or Apple phone one doesn't even have to go to the supplier - provided of course it is under warranty - one can go to a million other places to get a fixed. But how many Redmi Note 5 Pro suppliers are there in any given country? I haven't seen one direct Redmi outlet yet. Only big super stores like Carrefour in the UAE or other big discount online sales places that help to do the marketing for Redmi. Redmi is obviously successfully cashing in on being a look alike of the big name phones like Apple, but I'm not so sure it's something I'd want to go for unless I have plenty of cash to spare.
Back on topic, I've always wondered about the second camera. Is it there for selfies or for Skype or both?

Yes there are services centers of Xiaomi, Second camera is on other side, not for selfies, they are mostly used for portrait mod.

Soon the battle goes to triple cameras. as Huawei launched P20Pro and next is Mate 20. also samsung decide to launch next phone with triple rear cam. Xiaomi Mi Mix 3 also leaked as triple cameras.

Thats how these big companies compete in market, like when Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 Pro had a style like iPhone X, now their new phones with more styles. Recently we can see so significant change in mobile.
