RE: The Last Movie You Watched - LightDestory - 05-27-2021 Yesterday I watched "Stowaway" on Netflix... well it took 2 hours of my time and it didn't give me any good memory. Boring film with a bad story telling. I just wished to finish as soon as possible because I am not used to interrupt a watching. Plot from wikipedia: Quote:The crew of MTS-42, a two-year mission to Mars, consists of commander Marina Barnett, biologist David Kim, and medical researcher Zoe Levenson. After taking off from Earth, the upper stage of their launch vehicle is connected by 450 meter long tethers to the ship's main hull, acting as a counterweight for inertia-based artificial gravity.[4] RE: The Last Movie You Watched - debjit - 05-28-2021 I just watched "Army of the Dead" and "Wrath of Man". I enjoyed warth of man but it's too much for me in the army of the dead. The storyline is not that clear. I have to watch 2nd time to understand what is happening. But another hand Warth of man is a bit clear with its story. The graphics are awesome I must say in the Army of Dead. RE: The Last Movie You Watched - Mashiro - 05-28-2021 Tigerland / 2000 / United States / 7 out of 10 Rating on IMDb IMDb Wrote:A group of recruits go through Advanced Infantry Training at Fort Polk, Louisiana's infamous Tigerland, last stop before Vietnam for tens of thousands of young men in 1971. In September 1971, a platoon of recruits arrives in Ft. Polk, LA, for infantry training before leaving for war. The final week takes place in Tigerland, a swamp similar to Vietnam. Jim Paxton has enlisted; he wants to experience everything and write books later. He befriends Roland Bozz, a cool Texan with a gift for getting into trouble and for helping misfits get discharges. At least one sociopath in the platoon hates Bozz, even as the sergeants grudgingly recognize his leadership abilities. As the platoon heads into its week in Tigerland, Paxton's body gives out, Bozz makes plans to go AWOL, and the sociopath gets hold of live ammo. Is the Louisiana swamp more dangerous than the DMZ? Somewhat of a crazy movie. A lot of profanity and many men acting like "we're super grown up and are super duper guys". A lot of racism. It's as it has most likely been at the times of the Vietnam war. Btw: huge cast with many actors we all learned to know and love during many movies and TV shows. RE: The Last Movie You Watched - xdude - 05-28-2021 @Mashiro Very true. That's why I also gave it 6/10. I haven't watched too many Zombie movies since it's not my genre but even as a movie this one was not so good. I was trying to remember the movie World War Z to compare since it's one of the few Z movies I have watched but I kind of don't remember that one at all. This movie has some strange stuff even for a Zombie movie. Like Zombie Love, then Zombie having a babe? Even there is a Cyborg Zombie ??? lol ---------------------------- I watched this old classic Sci-fi movie, Aliens (1986) again. I have downloaded the whole Aliens movie series into my Classics collection and this 2nd movie is the best among those. An amazing movie that is worth watching. This is one of the coolest scary Sci-fis from the 80s. I don't think it got highlighted in its launch since there were so many great movies released in that year such at Top Gun etc. RE: The Last Movie You Watched - Mashiro - 05-29-2021 Requiem for a Dream / 2000 / United States / 8.3 out of 10 Rating on IMDb IMDb Wrote:The drug-induced utopias of four Coney Island people are shattered when their addictions run deep. Sara Goldfarb (Ellen Burstyn) is a retired widow, living in a small apartment. She spends most of her time watching TV, especially a particular self-help show. She has delusions of rising above her current dull existence by being a guest on that show. Her son, Harry (Jared Leto) is a junkie but along with his friend Tyrone (Marlon Wayans) has visions of making it big by becoming a drug dealer. Harry's girlfriend Marion (Jennifer Connelly) could be fashion designer or artist but is swept along in Harry's drug-centric world. Meanwhile Sara has developed an addiction of her own. She desperately wants to lose weight and so goes on a crash course involving popping pills, pills which turn out to be very addictive and harmful to her mental state. A movie about drug addiction from various kinds (medicine to real hard stuff) and the dream worlds the drugs create for the people that take them and get addicted to them but also the dark sides of their addiction. RE: The Last Movie You Watched - LightDestory - 05-29-2021 Like @Mashiro @xdude and @debjit I have watched "Army of the Dead" a 2021 American zombie heist film directed by Zack Snyder from a screenplay he co-wrote with Shay Hatten and Joby Harold, based on a story he also created. (wikipedia quote) I didn't like it very match. I watched a lot of zombie movies such as: Resident Evil Saga (I know that it is so bad compared to the games), I am Legend, Alive, Pandemic and Warm bodies. I think that this movie is the wrost of the category. I watched it but it didn't take any particular thing. Nothing was new or surprising at all. The zombies was likely a clichè. The storytelling was slow and pointless. I don't suggest it to any zombie-movie lover. As always the plot from wikipedia: Quote:A United States military convoy traveling from Area 51 collides with a car on the highway outside Las Vegas. The convoy's cargo, a zombie, escapes, killing and infecting several soldiers before heading into the city. There, they infect most of the city's population before the government decides to quarantine the city. As Shu Lien is hot on the trail of the skilled burglar, unrequited loves; fervent passions; an unconquerable desire for freedom, and bitter loose ends stand in the way. Can Mu Bai shake off his violent past? A martial arts movie from China with some major chinese actors. I usually love Asian martial arts but this movie has been mostly boring due to a lot of dialog between characters. The fight scenes were quite interesting and epic though. The Others / 2001 / United States / 7.6 out of 10 Rating on IMDb IMDb Wrote:A woman who lives in her darkened old family house with her two photosensitive children becomes convinced that the home is haunted. A woman named Grace retires with her two children to a mansion on Jersey, towards the end of the Second World War, where she's waiting for her husband to come back from battle. The children have a disease which means they cannot be touched by direct sunlight without being hurt in some way. Strange things happen, people hear voices and etc. It is an interesting movie though ![]() Audition / 1999 / Japan / 7.2 out of 10 Rating on IMDb IMDb Wrote:A widower takes an offer to screen girls at a special audition, arranged for him by a friend to find him a new wife. When Eastern European criminals Oleg and Emil come to New York City to pick up their share of a heist score, Oleg steals a video camera and starts filming their activities, both legal and illegal. An alright action movie with Robert De Niro in the main role. It's an ok movie ![]() Reign of Fire / 2002 / United States, United Kingdom & Ireland / 6.2 out of 10 Rating on IMDb IMDb Wrote:A brood of fire-breathing dragons emerges from the earth and begins setting everything ablaze, establishing dominance over the planet. In present-day London, 12-year-old Quinn Abercromby witnesses the awakening of a hibernating dragon from a centuries-long slumber, the result of a construction dig supervised by his mother and an incident for which Quinn feels partially responsible. Twenty years later, the adult Quinn (Christian Bale) is the fire chief of a refortified castle community, responsible for dousing the blazes lit by the dragon's prodigious number of flame-spewing offspring, airborne juggernauts that have wreaked havoc across the globe, torching civilization and turning humans into an endangered species. Hope arrives in the form of Denton "Dragon Slayer" Van Zan (Matthew McConaughey), an American known to be the only man to ever kill one of the dragons, and Alex (Izabella Scorupco), a scientist/pilot who's a member of Van Zan's army, a zealous fighting force that includes a secret weapon: the Archangels, paratroopers using themselves as bait to attract and then dispatch the deadly beasts. Underrated movie in my opinion. I really liked it. Also great cast with Christian Bale, Matthew McConaughey and Gerard Butler. Road to Perdition / 2002 / United States / 7.7 out of 10 Rating on IMDb IMDb Wrote:A mob enforcer's son witnesses a murder, forcing him and his father to take to the road, and his father down a path of redemption and revenge. 1931. Mike Sullivan and Connor Rooney are two henchmen of elderly downstate IL-based (Quad City area, though much of the action takes place in the Chicago area) Irish-American mobster John Rooney, Connor's father. In many respects, John treats Mike more as his son, who he raised as his own after Mike was orphaned, than the volatile Connor, who nonetheless sees himself as the heir apparent to the family business. One evening, Mike's eldest son, twelve year old Michael Sullivan Jr., who has no idea what his father does for a living, witnesses Connor and his father gun down an associate and his men, the situation gone wrong initiated from an action by Connor. Caught witnessing the incident, Michael is sworn to secrecy about what he saw. Regardless, Connor, not wanting any loose ends, makes an attempt to kill Mike, his wife and their two sons. Mike and the surviving members of his family know that they need to go on the run as Connor, who has gone into hiding, will be protected through mob loyalty, especially by John, who cannot turn on his own flesh and blood. Still, Mike has to figure out a way for retribution for what Connor did, while still protecting him and his family, not only from Connor, but from John and his fellow associates. Through it all, Mike wants those in his family that had no say in what he chose as a living, to have some redemption for their eternal souls. A great Mafia style movie with flair of Green Mile and an awesome cast including Tom Hanks, Daniel Craig (James Bond) and other great actors (Jude Law and others). Give it a spin. Confessions of a Dangerous Mind / 2002 / United States / 7 out of 10 Rating on IMDb IMDb Wrote:An adaptation of the cult memoir of game show impresario Chuck Barris (Sam Rockwell), in which he purports to have been a C.I.A. hitman. Television made him famous, but his biggest hits happened off-screen. This is the story of a legendary showman's double life - television producer by day, C.I.A. assassin by night. At the height of his television career, Chuck Barris (Sam Rockwell) was recruited by the C.I.A. and trained to become a covert operative. Or so Barris claimed. It was an OK movie to me. Not what I expected. |
