Atom is more powerful and feature rich when compared to Notepad ++. Notepad++ is a very basic and simple editor

iam using Notepad++ as it has alot of usefull features && its powerfull but the highlighting isn't well made, iam using Visual Studio Code too as it provides more features than Notepad++ and the highlighting is more good

Atom is one of my best choice for myself. cross-platform text editor, Built-in package manager, Smart autocompletion, etc...

I always thought when Atom first came out that it was trying to copy Sublime. It never quite made it to Sublime quality though. I don't find it as clean and streamlined as Sublime. So if I have to choose between Atom and Notepad++, Notepad++ is the easy choice. Notepad++ is very simple and easy to use. For more permanent and serious coding I prefer Sublime however.
