VPS 9 Clock completely off - tryp4vps - 10-05-2017

Hi,

My VPS 9 was down a few hours ago. After it gets back up, I find that the clock is completely off:

Code:
ntpdate -q ntp.ubuntu.com

4 Oct 17:10:52 ntpdate[10437]: step time server XX.XX.XX.XX offset 25199.297538 sec

This is serious. Admin please help to open ticket to VirMach to resolve it asap. Thank you.

FYI, My VPS 9 is on Chicago location.

Thanks for reply.

However, no solution at my side will work.

This is OpenVZ. I just can't control the system clock and fix this issue on my own.

I could adjust ntp clock only if it was KVM.

Thanks perryoo11 for help mentioning Dynamo.

@Dynamo I don't see you online and I understand you may still be busy, but I really need your help on this issue.

Please help to contact the provider asap. Thanks for help.

RE: VPS 9 Clock completely off - Dudi - 10-06-2017

This is one of the negative aspect of OpenVZ, so you can't set the time by yourself. You can change only the timezone.
You have to ask the provider (in this case Dynamo or TrK to open a case and) sync the node's clock.

RE: VPS 9 Clock completely off - Dynamo - 10-07-2017

The clockdrift has been fixed, looks like there was an issue with the ntp server they were using.
Please check once again and if its fixed then please report us so we can be able to close this topic.

RE: VPS 9 Clock completely off - tryp4vps - 10-08-2017

Can confirm it is now back to normal.

Code:
ntpdate -q ntp.ubuntu.com

8 Oct 17:40:14 ntpdate[14405]: adjust time server XX.XX.XX.XX offset 0.000132 sec

Thanks Dynamo and VirMach for the fix. This thread can be closed for now.

RE: VPS 9 Clock completely off - TrK - 10-08-2017

Case Solved and Closed.
