Yes. Search engine optimization is a never ending process. Like 15 years ago there were so many search engines and the process was soo simple. But now there is only Google. (Optimizing for Google simply work for Yahoo and Bing) So it's like a war between webmasters and Google search. Webmasters do their best to understand Google search Algorithm and use the Knowledge to have better ranking. When Google realize everyone know how their algorithm works they change it. So the whole loop starts again.
Not everyone have time or knowledge to analyses the whole process. That's why these sites are important. There are researchers who do that full time. They publish articles about it and we can learn fast about what's going on. I think even thats not easy for someone who can not experienced with current SEO basics.
