I love my Desktop setup at home. It's where I live for a good part of the day. It's got everything there. A nice Altec speaker system that has beautiful sound (it comes with a woofer). Got a printer on the right hand side. Lighting is perfect. I have a keyboard tray - so everything is ergonomic too. And a good chair. Can't get better than that.
HOWEVER!
I've noticed I'm getting in the minority with my desktop preference when I get to the Forum and to places like Discord. And this makes me curious. Who prefers desktop and who prefers smart phone? How much of in a minority am I?
I really got a Discord headache today. Like what I did was to start in Desktop mode - then it didn't want me to sign in. Then I changed to app - and somewhere with its firewalls Discord login decided I was trying to sign in with a different device. BuT Discord got me to first do a detailed captcha - photos were barely legible so I had to do it more than once - painfully. Then by the end of captcha Discord - after all of that trouble - decided I have to verify my e-mail address first AGAIN. And then finally I had to sign in again. And I was in.
So my painful experience with Discord got me wondering about who still uses desktops. Are there still people like me who enjoy the convenience of their desktops - and how much in the minority are they these days?

Desktop or Notebook over a Smartphone or Tablet. Tablet over Smartphone though due to the bigger size and therefore a much better feeling similar to a desktop. Especially if you pair a Tablet via OTG with a wireless mouse and keyboard combo.
Discord is a weird application. I use it in my web browser and on every sign in it wants me to verify my e-mail due to a new login location. That even if the login was performed from the same machine, same browser and still the same IP address. It is really annoying and to be honest I dislike it it a lot. The desktop client is bloated much like the Slack desktop client.

Just noticed I'd forgotten to add laptop with the desktop. I'll do so now, thanks for that feedback too.

I just use different, depends what I have on hand and mostly is that 3 together.

Currently I prefer smartphone to pc for browsing, just because it is more portable and my work requires lot of travel. To turn on the pc it takes more time, it seems some issue with my laptop battery back up, so I do not use it much.

I use a Desktop for nearly all of my work. I do like Laptops specially convenient when you travel but I really hate laptop keywords. For some reason I can't time fast when I use a Laptop. Right now I don't have a laptop. When It comes to Smart Phones I guess I'm a late boomers. I got my first smart phone only like 4 years ago. Still hate using it for visiting sites and stuff. But I have to say I have found so many useful Apps so now it's something I can't live without. Right now I have 2 Smart Phones and a Tab. It's time to go for a newer Smart phone since I'm stilling using a Samsung Galaxy S4. But It's still working perfectly so maybe I can skip another model of 2 in Galaxy Flagship series.
The reason I even bought a Smart phone was because my friends and workmates were pestering me to get one So they can contact me on messenger apps like What'sapp, Viber, Line etc. Indeed these chat apps are really helpful. You can talk to people whenever and wherever you are. But still Desktop is my favorite.

The e-mail verification for Discord desktop will not be required after you enable 2FA.
That works for me. I have 2FA enabled on Discord and it has not asked me verifying my e-mail again since then.

I like laptop for everything; Forum or discord.
If I don't have time or carrying anything; I use Smartphone for chatting and stuffs.
