Does Chrome automatically update it self ? At least mine seems todo that since I couldn't find a place to update it. Then I noticed the latest version I have is one you have mentioned in the post. But problem with Google chrome is it take so much memory than Firefox. Plus for some reason mine takes lots of bandwidth.

yes. if you have installed without changing anything except may be the location of installation, then it also sets up a service that checks for updates and downloads and installs them. You get a notice or prompt.
Mine didn't cause I dislike auto.
I dont know why it would do those in your case. may be older machine ? But still, bandwidth hogging is weird.
Memory hogging happens cause previously browser tabs used to share memory space that contained common code. Nowadays, tab isolation is big thing...a must for security reasons.
no idea what might cause bw load though .

Thanks for sharing, as I don't do auto updates for all browsers.
I seldom use Google Chrome though. I prefer Firefox over it.
But I still use Chrome sometimes when I need to test websites for cross-browser compatibility.

Mine doesnt automatically update but there is an up arrow sign on the chrome menu . I click it and press uodate and it automatically updated to 72 just restart the browser
