VPS18 Review - chanalku91 - 08-09-2019

Introduction
I am Refly, I am a person who never leaves the house because I hate the Neighbors! so I do all my activities inside the house!
Ok now, I will review a package whose contents are lizards that can fly quickly in the air! Or I call it the Flying Lizard!
But the lizard I mean is VPS18 which is able to run programs with intensive processing that has incredible speed!
Without further, you can skip this instruction and move on to the Benchmark topic

   VPS Specifications
Disk Space: 75 GB SSD
RAM: 4 GB
IP Addresses: 1x IPv4
Virtualization: KVM
Monthly Traffic: 5 TB
Location: Amsterdam/Lelystad, Netherlands
Control Panel: Ask Admin
Windows: Yes.  VPS comes with full version of Windows with Windows license.
Connection: 1 Gbps
Provided by: Hostlease
The specifications I got were tempting, but I regret using them because of the problem in Windows 2016 itself!
When I tried it I wanted to customize the appearance of the desktop but I didn't really get the full licensed of Windows 2016!
But the expired licensed of Windows!
This is a lack of VPS18 for me!

The score from benchmarking is 333 I will take the source from the first because that is the best result! But for the performance of the VPS itself is still fairly responsive!
For this flying lizard!

For IO problems and internet speed I don't expect much!
But this will be your judgment for this Flying Lizard!
So you can comment on this issue!

   Assessment
I think this VPS gets a value of 9
For several reasons
Like the problem of Windows 2016 which is still not Full Version!
But this review can be done quickly because of the support Jordy and Gregory are ready to help you to fix problems with their services sincerely!
And one more thing, without a meatball seller, and GOJEK maybe I haven't eaten for 3 days because my sister went out of town for a whole month!

   Notes
1. Flying lizards are inspiration
2. Meatball seller is a hero for me !
3. Part of this review was made with the help of Google Translate!
I think there are some mistakes from the words that I typed, so I apologize for all the problems that occur!
What I mean from an expired version is an expired license, Sorry !

Thank you for the review @chanalku91 - never read one with this style before - provided for entertaining reading - well done! Wink

Do you know how much it is to get a Microsoft Full License?  Getting a partial one I think is super, however not an expired one.  So possibly you need to create a thread in the support forum, and make an inquiry. To tell you the truth I was very surprised it was offered, as it's a very expensive license and just imagine renewing it every year.

For Windows Server 2016 I think you have to burn your money as much as 970 USD And that's just the standard version! I don't know yet about the other versions

RE: VPS18 Review - Mashiro - 08-09-2019

I have checked the VPS plan, the announcement thread for VPS 18 and all the replies to it. It is nowhere mentioned that you get a full Windows Server license for free with the VPS. Moreover it is said that you need to bring your own license when the trial license expires. That's the case here.

Quote:Windows OS: Yes. Once trial has expired valid license is required.

A Windows Server 2016 Standard license that is limited to 2 cores costs $110. So running a machine with two cores means a $220 price for the license. Luckily you have two cores only.... still $110 are a lot to simply give away such a license.

A Windows Server 2016 Datacenter license is just $770 per two cores...

Reference

Enterprises of course get much cheaper conditions but overall they still pay a lot... Microsoft is expensive eitherway. And they keep changing their license model to squash more and more money out of people... like this "per core license" thing that was introduced with Windows Server 2016.

@chanalku91

Single core score is 333 and multicore score is 600. That doesn't equal a overall score of 933. Just in case you misunderstood the benchmark.

Hmm I see, this will be my guideline for the next review Thank you @"Hidden Refuge"

RE: VPS18 Review - humanpuff69 - 08-09-2019

Windows espescially the server one is extremely expensive and not worth it for stuff that not require a windows

for me there is no reason to buy windows espescialy the server one, i use linux both in my desktop and server/vps . It is free and doesnt have that extremely high price tag

Technicaly microsoft give windows 10 for free but with a watermark and inability to customize . They do that because they fear of linux if they screw pirate most of them will go to linux insteas of staying in windows

RE: VPS18 Review - Pacific Spirit - 08-09-2019

Hey,

Unfortunately I have had little time to answer everything on time, so some answers have been delayed. I have indeed made a change to the VPS. The Windows License is indeed no longer active as a fixed license, because otherwise I might get into serious trouble. However, it is true that a 180-day trial license is active, so if you open the powershell and run "slmgr.vbs -herarm or / rearm" the server will activate another 180-day trial period. So you have the possibility to activate the windows for almost half a year. Customer brings its own.

RE: VPS18 Review - tryp4vps - 08-09-2019

Good review. Actually quite a funny review talking about neighbors and meatball etc. Smile

I don't mind the Windows license issue though. I can live without using Windows at all. So, the overall performance and quality of this VPS 18 is nice enough for me. In particular, the network speed for Europe locations is exceptionally well.

RE: VPS18 Review - Honey - 08-10-2019

Good and nicely composed review, It is very impressive to see that a Windows license(even If Its just a trial) is offered, most free server providers(sometimes even premium) can't even think of offering that!

RE: VPS18 Review - Mashiro - 08-10-2019

Every Windows version comes with a "trial license" that can be renewed several times by using the "rearm" trick via slmgr. Windows Server however has the longest trial period of 180 days * multiple times through rearm.

I thought this was common knowledge here. Oh, well. Now it should be.
