SEO allows for clearer navigation of your website, so when Search Engines crawl the web for results your website is optimized for the engine to easily pull content and presents it for users to visit. There are a lot of great tools on the web that can help you optimize your website to boost your SEO score especially for CMSs like Wordpress and some forum softwares. I am not very versed in MyBB, but I do know that vBulletin has some great plugins for those that use that platform. Great post and summary of SEO Guidelines @tbelldesignco. Commenting is great advice, but in my experience attracts bot spam like crazy. What do you do to take care of bot spam? I use an anti spam captcha like Google Captcha to weed out the bots when users register, then have to make sure that only activated accounts can post. I’m not sure if MyBB has features like that, but I know Wordpress can accommodate these security features. Gigarocket used to get those bot spam comments at Gigarocket Blog - like big time. One scarcely posted a blog post and it was totally overtaken by bot blog comments. And of course the blog had all of the traditional anti-spam plug-ins. Maybe it's not happening as much with your blogs then? And it's something specific to the Gigarocket Blog that made it into a target for those Ukranian and similar type spam comments of which their URL's are two to three lines in length. Usually when I access the blog to clean it up, it's my first task to delete all of those bot spam and some of them really look very ugly. Think with the next clean up I'll turn off comments as Gigarocket has become inactive anyway. I've honestly not had any issues with TBDC and spam and having eCommerce + Blog you would think the comment and review sections would be littered with spam. I think a lot of it has to do too with using JetPack on top of my other anti spam and brute force measures I have in place in wordpress and server side. It could also be that my client base and audience is small right now, so I am flying under the radar. RE: SEO for Small Businesses & Beyond - Littlemaster - 05-24-2021 SEO is one of the dynamic concept in the web. It seems changing by the new trends. Google currently gives importance to AMP sites over non-AMP sites. Considers website speed based on different aspects which can be checked by pagespeed. It seems the visitor count is still important. Backlinks both internal and external seems still important as it help the bot to track the importance of pages. Properly structured content will help both the user and crawler to organize the contents. Snippets are great to have. It is better always to have some SEO expert working on the background. Indeed, I was going to work on a post in regards to this for both here and my series I've been working on for my business. I am about to take a training course in SEO for work, so I will have to update this post or even do a new standards post. RE: SEO for Small Businesses & Beyond - Decent12 - 05-24-2021 Well, i had interest in knowing about SEO and this post cleared a basic image of SEO but i have still left one question in my mind which is what is the most effective way of SEO? I know getting backlinks and posting articles with backlinks on popular webs/blogs but is there any other way which is more effective and easy from doing all this? Instead of working on other sites to build our image, it is always better to work on our sites to build our image. Having traffic from other sites are important, but keeping the visitors subscribed to our website is the most important thing. Once we get users who are in love with our website they will provide feedback automatically to others through various ways. If our website is low quality and people do not like the content then there is a big chance they will leave the site. Nowadays keyword stuffing is used by many blogs. But they are damaging their image by fooling the visitors. So a visitors will never click on such url again in search results. Link building has merits but focus on the quality of our sites. RE: SEO for Small Businesses & Beyond - xdude - 05-25-2021 Today, If you want to develop, promote your local business then Facebook is the best place. These days people spend so much time on Facebook and it's easier to capture your target audience with paid or organic methods. Also, you can do 90% of the stuff you do with a website with a Facebook page and you get even a lot better features and instant messaging with customers, sales threads, etc. Google is still there but it's losing it a monopoly. @deanhills Commenting no longer works for SEO like it used to be. You get 99% SPAM comments so rarely a blog let you comment freely when you get those auto-published. Also as a commentator, you don't get much value from comments since links re no-follow and Google knows these are comment links. Those who into SEO/Marketing use comments for something else. We do something called Self-Commenting. We get the WP to register user comments only first. Then we write down a set of content-rich comments and post those. Then reply to those with content-rich comments as Blog author. This way your post get more unique content and this give a chance to manage your keyword density. |
