What disk you are using HDD or SSD? - Vuluts - 05-19-2016 My laptop has 500 GB HDD planning to switch to SSD and use my HDD as external disk. How about you? RE: What disk you are using HDD or SSD? - Dudi - 05-19-2016 I use both of them. I have notebook with SSD, and external hard disk drive, VPSs with HDD and with SSD too. When I bought my SSD it was more expensive but nowadays a 128GB which is enough for Windows 10 is very cheap, you can buy it for as low as 30 dollars, or even less if there is a promotion, like BlackFriday or CyberMonday. In the future (because the current is often too small for movies, virtual machines, etc.) I'm planning to buy an 1TB size SSD if I have enough money and it will be much cheaper like 100 dollars from second hand with a few years of warranty. But I don't trust in TLC so MLC is a must for me, I like the Samsung's Pro series, Plextor, Micron, Crucial OEM drives. RE: What disk you are using HDD or SSD? - perry - 05-19-2016 i have them both. 2 ssd both 128 gig and 3 hdd one 2*1tb and one 2tb RE: What disk you are using HDD or SSD? - kubanek_kuba - 05-21-2016 I have only hdd 500gb but maybe in future i will buy ssd RE: What disk you are using HDD or SSD? - Arkiven4 - 05-22-2016 I myself use hdd for less. but ssd has other advantages such as speed. saving in electricity. Low temperature. not noisy and more durable. but expensive. ssd typically used in the PC server RE: What disk you are using HDD or SSD? - Honey - 05-24-2016 I use HDD in my PC, and I dont really intend to switching to SDD yet for a number of reasons, SSDs are popular for Speed, I dont feel my HDD is lagging or my PC getting un responsive so why would I choose SSD, all the other benefits such as low electricity less wieght less noise are good for lappies but for my PC nah, another thing is that, there is a thing called SSD Endurance which means like, It can only support 20 GB of read / write operations per day, It cannot endure more which is why I'm not willing to switch at the moment, maybe I will consider when SSD Techonology improves more and It gets more cheaper, not planning on investing money in it for now RE: What disk you are using HDD or SSD? - Vuluts - 05-31-2016 (05-24-2016, 06:23 AM)Honey Wrote: I use HDD in my PC, and I dont really intend to switching to SDD yet for a number of reasons, SSDs are popular for Speed, I dont feel my HDD is lagging or my PC getting un responsive so why would I choose SSD, all the other benefits such as low electricity less wieght less noise are good for lappies but for my PC nah, another thing is that, there is a thing called SSD Endurance which means like, It can only support 20 GB of read / write operations per day, It cannot endure more which is why I'm not willing to switch at the moment, maybe I will consider when SSD Techonology improves more and It gets more cheaper, not planning on investing money in it for now Maybe you can use SSD only for OS install and programs, and use HDD for storage etc. RE: What disk you are using HDD or SSD? - RickB - 05-31-2016 Got both. Think of doing this: 2 ssds in raid striping (extra performance) 2 hdds in raid-1 mirror for safety RE: What disk you are using HDD or SSD? - KripTon - 06-01-2016 I prefer SSD because With the speed offered by SSDs, the truth is that there is little to complain about. Moreover, as they are not in constant motion, they are more durable. The problem comes when we want to buy one, whether for a new computer or to one who want to upgrade. The price is far higher than the HDD. For example, if you want to spend about 100 euros in a SSD only you get about 240 gigabytes of space, and if you want to spend the same for any model HDD could get up to 3 or 4 terabytes. The difference between the two is huge space. New PC nowadays built with SSD but the problem is the capacity. If you got $$ to spend why not go for FULL SSD. |
