Does your work software work on your Linux distro ? Mostly, no. Most custom software are designed to work only with Windows. You have no option buy Windows once you have to deal with a custom software at work.

LibreOffice is a great Office suit which works greatly on Linux systems too. But I've to admit that most softwares don't work directly on Linux. Sad

A lot of your day to day and custom built government softwares don't run on Linux, true. But i was amazed to find system v UNIX based softwere when i visited a state owned transport company here. Though there softwere was aggressively alienating, intimidating even. Still...

In my opinion Linux isn't good for any of work or personal use, it's mostly used in either VPSs or for those who like Linux GUIs such as GNOME 3. I also recommend everyone to use Windows for a personal or work usage computer.

Not only on vps, if you need to protect some secret information its better to have them on linux than windows, but yea for personal use windows is better for casual users.

many my Windows project cant open in my ubuntu, but i can handle it with installing wine on ubuntu Smile of course not perfect enough but i think its ok

Many offices are converting to Linux due to huge savings on software cost. It is as easy to write a software for Linux as for Windows. So, if you want a custom software done, it might work in most cases.

Agree . With wine you can run windows application on linux . But it will not perfectly run like on windows . I used wine when i want to play windows game on linux
