Introduction:
Pokémon AquaHarmony is a fan game created using RGSS, a derivative of Ruby, in the program RPG Maker XP. AquaHarmony features a custom resolution making it optimal for larger than life interfaces and richer detail. Travel to the Rheno Region where you will discover a new story, characters, creatures and never before seen features in a Fan Game. The Rheno Region is divided up into three sections with rich biomes with diverse creatures both new and old.

Story:
You start your journey in Alpine Town, a small town in the south west portion of the region. There you will meet your rival and the Region's Professor who will pair you up with your first partner. The quiet Rheno Region will not stay quite for long as a crime organization begins to pull strings from the shadows attempting to awaken an ancient power native to the Region. Travel far and wide collecting Pokémon, taking on the Rheno League, training your partners and keeping the fragile balance of the Rheno Region in check. Will you, your Pokémon and Rival be able to harness the power of the region to save it?
Features:
AquaHarmony features new interfaces and mechanics not yet featured in a Fan Game with more being developed to enhance game play! Features include, but not limited to:
- New Evolution Methods

I really wasn't sure where to post this thread... it seems to me it could fit into several categories... Scripting and programming, hobbies, portfolio... I figured gaming general was a good place to start. Feel free to move it if you think of a better place for it

For a few months now, I've made myself a new hobby of making (or attempting to make) video games.

The project I've been working on the most lately is a sort of dungeon crawler with RPG aspects. Think "Pilgrims Progress" (John Bunyan, 1678) meets "Eye of the Beholder" (SNES, 90). I call it "Inner Demons: Dungeon Crawl"

At this point I'll inject a screenshot:

 Screenshot from 2020-10-24 16-38-08.png (Size: 157.1 KB / Downloads: 50)
In this game, you walk around a maze of a dungeon and encounter characters and enemies and grow your stats. Instead of the traditional abilities, characters, and stats you would find in a RPG, within "Inner Demons" you meet characters like "Confidence" and "Charisma" instead of "Bard" and "Warrior." You won't gain strength and speed: instead you grow stats like "Courage" and "Patience" to do battle with nasty enemies. You won't face off against a "Fire Elemental" or a "Kobold" Instead you try yourself against things like "Temptation" and "Doubt" and "Ridicule"

The challenge of the game is to find out which stats/abilities work best against which enemies - for example, "Confidence", "Compassion" and "Resilience" work great against "Ridicule" - "Courage" and "Willpower" not so much. The end game (I consider the game about 5% complete) is to create a narrative that allows the player to explore and discover different aspects of themself, while learning how to react in difficult emotional situations.

I'm currently working on 0.0.6 release which has a few new features (and I'm sure bugs to come along with them): Primarily visual options changing the way the graphics are rendered, positioned, and layered, screen and lighting effects, and I'm considering options for a higher resolution mode.

Here's where the community comes in: There's no way I can test this on every device and figure out which options work well, what I should keep, and what I should abandon. No matter how much time I spend testing, I'm still limited by my devices: I can test it on my phone or on my laptop... that's about it.

Should you choose to test it, and decide that it's worth your time to offer feedback, it would help me to know:

Device you're playing on (mobile, tablet, laptop, desktop)

system resources: cpu(architecture), RAM, Video card

Which screen/lighting/resolution effects you tried

Which screen/lighting/resolution effects worked well, which caused bad performance

bugs (this is a test build, bugs are almost guaranteed)

As well as any other noteworthy question, comment, or suggestion. I have thick skin: don't be afraid to be harsh. I don't care if you tell me you hate it, just as long as you tell me why you hate it. Conversely, if you love it, that's great but it only helps me if I know specifically what you love about it.

Known bugs:
battle screens aren't working - I changed the way the screen resizes from absolute values to relative values and battle screens are set up in absolute, so they are currently broken. You might find them working in an older version.
No options for touchscreen yet - options screen is set up in absolute values, so that has to be fixed too.

You can test the dev build with the new effects at: https://games.gdevelop-app.com/game-92af...index.html - please note this test build link will only last about a week
You can find the current (hopefully stable) build on itch.

If you aren't convinced you want to try it, maybe a video of the new effects would help? You can find one on youtube

And yes, it's 100% free, cross platform, and made out of 100% public domain assets assembled with FOSS
Graphics: Gimp
Audio: Audacity
Also, if you tested and offered feedback, and you wish to be credited for testing, please pm with how you would like to be mentioned/linked.

The PS4 jailbreak scene is getting active and slowly gaining traction again!

A few days ago the legend of the PS4 jailbreak scene developers the fl0w has released a kernel exploit that is present in PlayStation 4 firmware up to version 7.02. Here is the tweet that kicked it all up again. This new kernel exploit is the first news in the PS4 jailbreak scene since around two years. The last big thing was the kernel exploit for firmware 5.05/5.07 (which til today is still the most stable and widely spread exploit in the PS4 jailbreak scene). After the firmware 5.05/5.07 the scene was kind of silent and depressed. Many rumors came up regarding that developers have already exploits for higher firmware versions but won't release them for reason X. And a lot of negative vibes have been coming up against the developers. The scene was pronounced "dead" by its own members and has turned into a toxic community.

The new kernel exploit that works til firmware version 7.02 is based on a security hole inside the IPv6 stack of the BSD kernel used in the PlayStation 4 OS (it is based on FreeBSD after all). Sadly the kernel exploit alone cannot be used to jailbreak a PlayStation 4 console! You need a entry point at userland (the normal user level that you have access too when using the PS4). A entry point in a lot of cases so far has been the PS4 web browser. The web browser is based on Webkit and the Webkit browser engine also has holes in it. The latest webkit exploit that is available is on PS4 firmware 6.72. What does that mean? Well, it means that while the kernel exploit is good til version 7.02 it is not going to be available for that firmware version until a entry point in that firmware has been found.

And that also means that the next fully exploited firmware version will be 6.72. FW 6.72 has a webkit exploit and can use the 7.02 kernel exploit to achieve a full jailbreak. Currently a full exploit chain is in development. A full exploit chain is needed for a user to be able to run the webkit exploit that injects a payload into the kernel that executes the kernel exploit to jailbreak the console. This is not as easy as it sounds. This whole process is not really stable at the beginning. Developers are looking for ways to make the whole process more stable and easy to handle. For the FW 5.05/5.07 exploit the process needed a long time to get as stable as it is. Currently HEN 2.1.1 (the exploit chain Homebrew Enabler) is the most stable way of jailbreaking a PS4 with FW 5.05/5.07. It took a lot of time to get as perfected as it is now. Old versions have many kernel panics when being run (this is when it is unstable and will cause a kernel panic that leads to the PS4 crashing).

I own a original PS4 with FW 5.05 and HEN 2.1.1 cached offline. It is a great fun console made possible by jailbreaking and homebrew. Hopefully a full exploit chain for FW 6.72 will come soon .
