Best Free VPS In Beta SkySilk
#11
Yeah credit card is a major turn off for many. I never use my credits cards for anything online. Paypal yes but credit card never. I understand you guys take security seriously But this is a even bigger security issue for us users.

Another thing is free vps are not something so rare these days. I can get at least 5 vps from all the other vps providers if in a month of time. So I would like to know what makes your service is different and what advantage it has over other competitors in market.

We understand that and hope to have other options soon. One of the things we are looking for in beta are users who can help us test our CC verification and billing systems so we are certain everything is functioning properly when we go live.

We are a boutique cloud provider in beta, meaning we have an intimate team who want to listen to and work with your needs directly as we grow our platform. At current, we plan to go live with:

- Free Linux VPS option
- VPS with root access
- Custom VPS configuration (chose between preset or custom hardware options, scale only what resources you need)
- A growing list of Linux OS Distros, OS Versions, and Prebuilt Turnkey Applications such as mySQL, LAMP, WordPress, OwnCloud, and more
- SkySilk Rewards Points, which are earned in beta and when we go live. You can apply as account credit or redeem for Visa, Amazon, or Best Buy Gift Cards (more redemption options to come).
- Competitive Pricing and Hardware Plans

That being said, since we are in beta we are still building many features that would be considered standard with some other providers, such as real-time usage graphs, DNS management options, added block storage, Docker support and many other functions. If you'd like, you can see our project roadmap here: https://www.skysilktasks.tk/projects/sky...te/roadmap.

I understand your points and realize there are other services that don't require a credit card, though I can't speak to how those providers operate when it comes to legal issues or their ability to monitor account usage.

All I can say is, we take user security very seriously and feel the easiest way to provide that for all users is via credit card verification.

How? Read other providers' ToS and you will find out. In short, they have no responsibility for any user content. So, they do not charge users for illegal content (even if there is any).

If you still try to tell your users "we get your credit card because we want to protect you". I can only wish you good luck. I also wish your users good luck.

Hey there, thanks for the feedback! We have been making major improvements to stability, you should notice exponentially increased uptime as we get closer to our live launch. We have a scheduled maintenance window for this Sunday so some VMs may down but that is to be expected while in beta. Please feel free to let me know if you have any other feedback!

Hello,

I'd like to ask that are these VPSs use OpenVz or KVM virtualization technology, and how long will it be free?

We use container-based VMs running on KVM. We don't have an exact live date yet but our projection is to go live within the next couple of months, beta testing will remain free through then. Once we go live, we are planning on offering a base Free plan alongside our paid offerings as well!
