Notepad++ is the best .easy to use with alot of features in it.

for me i prefer to notepad++ which is easy to use i love create codes ,resources for mta sa using lua which is much understandable and easy !

I haven't used Windows in a very long time, but I do use a program called Notepadqq, a snap application for Linux.

But, back in my Windows days, there was an app called "Crimson Editor." That was fantastic for editing and it also had a beautiful find/replace system that'd let you even search recursively for text in folders. It's still available, last time I checked. It's no longer developed and nobody ever ported it to Linux.

Hmm... I think it's in C or C++ (the source is available). Maybe I'll take a stab at it when I get bored this winter.
