Ring topology is where all the nodes are connected to each other in such a way that they make a closed loop. It helps to reduce the chances of collision. It have better performance and there is no need of network server.
What are the advantages of ring topology?

but ring and bus topology have 1 downside that is that the client need to be always turned on and when the computer isnt used it wasted an energy so for me the better choice is just to use star topology . even though you paying for switch/hub (ISNT THAT EXPENSIVE ANYWAY) you also save power because you can turn off your client without shuttind down the entire network
aalso star topology have no collision at all unlike the other one and almost all local network even the big one is using star because switch isnt that expensive and it is much easier
