Do you use the myBB alerts system and how are you working with it? Desktop or mobile?
#1
I'm just wondering how many members of post4vps are using the myBB alerts system and how you are working with it?  Also, are you using a desktop computer or mobile phone to work with the Forum or both?

I only use desktop as I find it much more fun to use it that way.  I think the alerts are probably one of the neatest inventions of myBB.  When I log in, it's the first place I check and respond to. Once I've checked the alerts I delete them, so that I only have new alerts showing during my next visit to the Forum.

I also like to work through all of the active forums and posts and find the on/off highlighted buttons against the Forums and threads very useful to navigate to and also to check whether I've missed something.

I also like it that the last posts are linked in the right hand column of the Forum.  I often use that to navigate to the last posts that have been made. The old fashioned design of myBB is great for me. It's a very user-friendly design for me and makes it very easy to follow posts and to make posts.

So would be great to hear how other members use the Forum and whether your preference is desktop or mobile phone or both.

I typically use my desktop to access forums like this, I typically do it at home during my leisure time anyway so I rather just turn on my computer and do what I want done. It's also easier on my fingers to type than to try and tap a phone screen to type longer posts. I do use the myBB alerts system to see if I received any replies that I should take a look of. I did also opt into the notifications too, so Firefox will display a notification at the bottom right corner of my screen saying I got quoted (which someone actually did when I was typing this haha). It does allow me to keep up to date too which is nice so I like the alerts system.

I use both desktop and mobile versions. I use the mobile version more often, though, just because it is more convenient.

For the myBB alerts system, it does work great on Firefox. Every time after I login, the first thing I do is to check the alerts for my account. After that, the second thing I do is to check the announcements page to see if there is any important message from the admins.

I too use the alert system as you do, I delete all alerts after I visit each link, it is quite useful to know updates relevant to me in forum, I am using desktop to visit the forum, mainly in Chrome, the special thing is that it gives alert in bottom right side as well, some websites allow to subscribe and when I open Chrome I can see the alerts such as news in right side.

Thank you  Sweet

myBB alter system is not in my favour. I really don't like getting notifications.
Thank you VPSlices and Post4VPS for your beautiful VPS!

I am using it because its good for announcing but its useless for some developers because they may just add one code at the theme.

You can turn the notifications off, and still see who responded to your posts or threads by clicking on the Alerts link.  I really like it that I can do it that way.  The Alerts link helps to go to the discussions where there have been a response first - I then delete the alerts afterwards, so that with the next session I only deal with the new alerts.
