Loss of posts 11 to 15 August - feedback needed?

Communication is really important to users, I think.
Just weird why Dynamo don't give explanation to TrK or Perry about this problem.

Looking forward for full explanation from admin here.
And, good luck!

Totally agreed.  At least I didn't lose more posts after last night's posting - I didn't know what to expect when I logged in - but everything is OK and nice to see @TrK.  Hopefully we won't lose more posts until the end of the month.

As far as i know, Post4VPS already hosted on 2 different servers. 1 is main hosting and the 2nd one is perry's server as he officially announced about it here. As dynamo said in the previous downtime when GHP cancel their sponsorship.
Quote:"We are planing to backend the Forum with more than 1 host so if anyone of them goes down then other will always be there to keep the forum always Online."
So i think forum was already hosted in different servers or maybe i'm wrong but i can say the current forum is temporary i guess hopefully the main server came back as soon as possible.

OK got it thanks for the response @arsalahmed786. I remember @perryoo11 saying something but thought it was a temporary arrangement.  Hopefully when we're back on the main server we won't have lost any of our posts.

Do you think we should make backups of our posts?  Like it sounds weird - but can someone please warn us if you're going to change the servers around again and what the effect of the change will be on the posts we made.

A daily auto database back up system should be implemented to avoid this issue, these issues may hurt users, one of my website lost hundreds of active users due to this issue, on those days I had no such system, hope post4vps admins will secure the data from loss.

Thank you  Sweet

Hello,
It is sad to see that we lost posts in bulk,
Since I haven't done any kind of restoring of old Backups, I would conclude that it was the provider who had restored the data from an older backup since we already have an automatic backup script installed which backups the forum twice every day. but before I could restore the newer backup, users had already started posting that's why I thought of not restoring the newer backup since then users would lose their posts which were made by them recently.

It was a hard decision for me to stick with old backup.
Hope you guys can understand.

Aaahh, so sad.
Btw, just to alert you, we still don't have Quote plugin that you installed before we lost our posts.

After that, I'm happy that you already stated why, so it's provider backup to the forum.
And you tell us what's going on and why you don't restore newer backup.
Glad you're here.

Maybe people that are experinced like @"Hidden Refuge" could help?

@Dynamo Many thanks for the feedback. The posts for me aren't a problem. Just wonderful to hear from you.

@Dynamo Thanks for letting us know. Smile

But I have an important question to you: How can we prevent this from happening again?

I guess other members may want to know as well. The amount of posts lost in these several days is quite significant.

Well didn't effect me since I was away for 16 days. But that's a quite unfortunate people lost posts. Can't do anything once people start posting again unless lock down forum at begin and updating restore with a latest backup.
