You have to sacrifice something for something else, you only have 1 IP but in the other side you can guarantee that your data is encrypted and providers don't sell it to 3rd party companies or whatever. Also some VPN's don't provide IPv6 but with Shadowsocks you can have IPv6 (if your VPS has one, if not then it'll be only v4), also I'd be great if you setup a PiHole for Adblock DNS (or you can use other's DNS like 198.251.90.139 - my friend made it). Also I think its hard to detect, people in China now use it to bypass the Chinese GFW and there's no method to stop it.
