Everything comes to an end so did FreeVPS. They had the best run time. One of the professional free services provider I have seen so far besides Post4VPS which is blooming now. I hope we see better side of FreeVPS in days to come.

Well anything will come to a end one day or another anyway.  It's a big disappointment that they're choosing to suddenly do it without any member feedback what so ever.  They just thought activity decreased, they don't have enough time to hold up the standard so they close down.  They could readjust somethings and it might work out again.  The forums still has some activity and sponsors, but they're reduced, but that doesn't mean new members and sponsors won't come.  With the vast knowledge on the forums, I highly doubt that the forums will completely lose their traffic and people will continue to visit them anyway.

an awesome recap how freevps was in monads experience.

Wow @perry0011 where did you find this gem?  I'd love to read it at its source - if it is possible to provide us with a link.  I think most of us are fans of Monad and wow, what a great peace of history for those of us who loved FreeVPS.

Sadly, it also showed how little the staff had interacted with the members.  Like there was zero communication about all of the good efforts that had been made to get more sponsors.  I can just visualize a thread with all of the efforts listed in it and asking the membership for more ideas or assistance. Just imagine all the posts it could have generated, as well as the energy it would have created.

Tonight when I checked in at FreeVPS I was totally shocked to my core.  Two members of staff were referring to the membership of FreeVPS as being toxic.  I couldn't believe what I read.  It was as though they were describing a different Forum.  Why I bring this up is that this is perhaps what was the death knell for FreeVPS.  A Forum that was run for the staff by the staff with little to no communication or bonding with the membership, mostly because they didn't think much of the membership.  The staff were mostly focused on the staff, and saw the membership mostly as a challenge.  Not as a potential ally.

Anyway, for me Monad is a legend.  Totally up there with the gods for me.  I learned so much from him, and have total admiration for his hard work, his courtesy to every one, I'm really sorry I won't be able to be in the same Forum as he any longer - that in particular feels like a great loss to me.  For me Dave, the owner of FreeVPS, created a magic idea with the Giveaway Process and Monad perfected it with lots of dedication, hard work, intelligence and genuine love for FreeVPS.

Thank you to Post4VPS and VirMach for my awesome VPS 9!
@deanhills

It was posted in that same accouterments thread. Those last couple of posts by their staff just proved what we were saying here. Several members voiced their concerns and asked about the sponsor situation and in anyway members can help. It was brushed off also we had no idea forum was going close untill they announce it. Not a clue. There was even a Give away week or 2 ago. Now they wonder why members haven't posted in a forum which they have declared dead ?

The reason why people still talk about it is because they did care about the forum and hurt by why and how it was closed so suddenly. Like @deanhills explained it was sudden for us since there was no communication about this between staff and members. If they want to put blame on members for all this well good for them. I guess it's time to leave this behind and move on.

For those who wants the original URL. Here it is: https://freevps.us/thread-22094-page-3.html#pid244854

I fully respect Monad too. I still remember when I signed up there 3+ years ago, he was the one who donated some points for me to start with and also explained to me how their point system works.

It was 2015... and I have made over 760 posts on that forum since then. An unforgettable experience indeed.

They should at least transfer VPSs and sponsors to here so Post4VPS can take benefit from it.
Thank you VPSlices and Post4VPS for your beautiful VPS!
@Golden In a way transfering sponsors to Post4VPS will be good (if they will offered it but we can not ask for it).

This is the best forum to get VPSs so far. It would be awesome if their sponsors came here.

Thanks for bringing me up to speed @xdude and the link @tryp4vps  Didn't realize it was in the famous (or should I say infamous) FreeVPS Shutting Down thread.  Nice Monad's big contribution is up there.  In retrospect I should be glad the staff are finally stop being nice and revealing their frustration with the community.  Now we at least know why the staff decided to pull the plug on the community without asking them for their input in advance of the decision.  Monad of course kept out of it, as he is Retired Staff, but there were slight innuendos in his post.  The negativity towards the community must have been something that existed in the Staff Forum for many years.  Like part of the staff culture, without me even being aware of it when I joined in February 2016.  I was just completely blown away by the magic of the Giveaway Process, and the high quality of documentation including the reams of rules that must have been put up or perfected by Monad.  He had done a brilliant job with the Forum even before he became staff.  I enjoyed posting there while the going was good.  And had never seen the closure coming.  Nor was aware of the negative feelings of the staff.

I'm beginning to resist to want to go to freevps.us  to post.  To be honest, it's always been stressful compared with here as I always felt as though the proverbial Sword of Damocles was hanging over my head for not being up to scratch with the millions of quality rules that are posted up in the freevps Menu and staff looking maybe skeptical at my writings.  I never felt comfortable and always self-edited my posts, even deleting them at times, until even deleting became a sin almost punishable by death.  I'm also careful here of course, but the atmosphere feels more relaxed, thanks to staff who value us being around.
