Does SEO Still matter?
#21
It is, without SEO you'll not grow your community/company/blog up. SEO is a main factor in getting traffic, regardless of how much of offers you posted here and there.

Well it's half true I think. Because now you can grow websites, forums or anything without using SEO. All you have to do is promote those using social media sites like Facebook, Twitter etc. But also it doesn't mean SEO is dead is there is massive number of people still using Google. Must more and more younger generation move to social sites from using search engines. You can ask a question in Facebook group and find better answers than if you do a Google search for many things.

Then you must have probably asked in wrong FB Group. But yes there are some stuff which are better suited for Google and Social media. For example if you ask someone to tell you how to write a full code about something you are not gonna get much success with that. But you would have better chance in Google because someone would have already done that and posted in website and Google would show it to you.

But if you asking something specific are shorter you get more responses at Facebook because people like to give short answers. Like lets say you want to know what people think about new Galaxy S8 phone then you get more real and honest answers in Facebook and also you can create a dialog with people who respond to you. Yo u won't get that from Google search. You will get bunch of reviews done but people who even might haven't used or even seen the phone in real.

You're right about that but a website using SEO and has a good amount of visitors will still get more visits than a website posted on Social Medias (unless you're an owner of a famous page or in a big community).
Using SEO is still the best way for me to increase a website's traffic.

It depends on your niche. For example if your site is about teen fashion, News, Fitness then you will have better success with social media than search engines. It's because people like to read random stuff about these stuff than search in Google.

Yeah, News sites and information sites work really great in social media. All you have to do is create really catchy titles and shared posts start going viral really fast. You can get plenty of Facebook and Twitter traffic with this method.

SEO is not everything. It is further classified into Google SEO, Bing SEO etc. Social media marketing is the new thing on what people used to call bring traffic to websites. There are people with huge no. of followers on Twitter, Instagram etc.
Thanks  @Post4VPS

SEO = Google Search. Nothing else. There are are no such things as Bing SEO or Yahoo SEO. There are specific stuff for any other search engine. All basically follow Google search guide lines and what webmasters to do manipulate the search ranking results. Funny thing is trying to manipulate search result is forbidden by Google but these days SEO is all about that.

Only good thing about the whole drama is Google no longer dominate or have a monopoly at quality traffic. You can get real very targeted traffic from social media these days. But this doesn't work for all niches so for some niches we still have to relay on good old Google traffic.
