The old Macbooks back in 2010 used to have CD/DVD drives but they have removed them. It is sad for them to do (in order to reduce thickness of the MacBooks and reduce cost). But there is nothing we can do at the moment.

I the following years I'm planing to replace my old notebook and I think it will Xiaomi.
I must really check out Xiaomi for a smart phone.  Am really impressed that they have a Macbook Pro clone.  What OS are they using with the laptop?  As I can imagine Macbook won't let them get away with cloning their OS?

well for mac os it is not impossible . you just need to hackintosh your laptop to get mac os on it but it isnt easy and there is probably something that doesnt work like wifi card , sound , etc but i used to try hackintosh and i can taste how using mac os like but i quickly reverted back to windows because of low memory and mac os eat lots of memory

and their mackbook clone isnt great either and isnt as cheap as their smartphone

But I think it was the right decision they removed CD/DVD drive because many users do not need it now.

And it is not nothing you can do. At least you can connect your Macbook with external CD/DVD if you still want.

Macbooks are quite expensive for what they are, moreover their OS is quite different from Windows or Linux. You may install windows on them but, they're way too sensitive.

MacBooks just aren't for gaming. I suit them with business. They're thin, pretty looking and portable but really expensive.

Then you can suit Mi Book with business too, it is as thin, pretty looking and portable, but you get it at around $800

But unfortunately in my country their products are very expensive, so I can't afford to buy a MBP.
Luckily Xiaomi made their own Macbook Pro clone with much reasonable price.

I think in all countries Apple products are expensive like easily double or sometimes even triple the other laptops.  What makes it even more expensive is all the additional add on hardware one needs in terms of special cables, adaptors add ons etc etc.  I've heard only good things about Xiaomi but didn't know they were making laptops as well.  Think I'll try their phones first, and when next I need a laptop look at Xiaomi, although I really like the Lenovo ThinkPad X series very much. Would be interesting to know who will be supporting Xiaomi laptops - like which service centers one would use for them.

I suggest you to only get Xiaomi Laptop if service center is available in your country otherwise it could be a big problem. Their phones are already so good, i have tested them already. Not sure about their Mi Book but by reading the reviews and watching video reviews, it sounds really good and better than Apple Macbook.

Thanks for the advice @Lampard.  I wonder whether one would be able to take a laptop like that to a Macbook Service Center .... lol Tongue

I don't think I'll go for Macbook or a Macbook equivalent for now.  If I need to get a new laptop I'll probably go for a Lenovo Thinkpad X series.  Depending on whether I've got a job or not.  I'm still happy with my Toshiba Ultrabook on Windows 7 and I also purchased a second hand Lenovo Thinkpad in the X series two years ago that has been blowing me away with its great performance.  Macbook I know is great, but too expensive, and I'm a bit old fashioned in that I prefer IBM compatible.
