Well they lost half of the servers used to have there. So less people posting now. It makes posting little bit harder. Post quality is something we can't ask to be lowered. It's just we have to improve the quality of our own posts if those are not up the standards.

Totally agreed. When I Google the Web for any VPS information there is a good chance I'll end up at FreeVPS.us. It is a treasure trove of tutorials and lots of really very good information about all aspects of VPSs including reviews, how to select a good VPS, where to find good deals and more. All of it is a testimony to really great VPS specialists in their community who are very generous with sharing their expert knowledge.

That forum is good, and There is lower requirements for applying VPS,
But most of the Bad news there staff/members are mostly inactive!
No one will accept/reject/check your request till month Tongue

I'm hoping post4vps could check whether it is able to get some of those VPSs?  Particularly from hostus.us.  Those were really great VPSs. Or who knows, maybe @Dynamo could contact HostUs direct?

As for the reason that freevps.us went down I'm almost certain it is because of the lack of ownership and someone to guide the staff positively.  The owner lost interest and then the staff got depressed and talked one another into more depression.  The reasons the staff are giving don't make sense to me at all. Here at post4vps we have an owner who is very much present in the Forum.  We also have a very energetic Giveaway Manager and a team of staff who are great with members.  They look at the problems positively and deal with them positively.  A recipe for success.

Agreed. FVPS also have really big standard for each post, which is really hard to make. (Hey, sometimes I'm passing the post standard requirement, sometimes I don't). And that's making their forum go down. I've feel the new member conditional. Like, I post, then it gone. And I will say "What the heck is that? Is that a spam? No!".

Yea, just like that. P4V don't really have that kind of standard, so I really enjoy being here.

Ps: I agree to "steal" some of FVPS sponsor :p.

RE: FreeVPS.us - xdude - 05-01-2018

That's shocking way to start the month of May. Well I saw the topic but didn't wanted to post anything there out of respect because I have used the place for a long time, Even though Im toally disagree with given reasons. But no point of talk about those there since it's already decided and that site is already dead, technically.

The main reason for decline of the site is not lack of members but sponsors. I don't think Current staff members have will or time to manage it. It needed more work on staffs side to get more sponsors. I mentioned this several times and was told no need to worry about but staff is taking care of it. Sadly I guess it didn't happened. Anyway they were working on their own free time so it was upto them. But my idea was creating a group for members who would represent the site and reach out of potential sponsors. I hope at least it will happen here rather than waiting for sponsors to come running. Coz that's not gonna happen anymore.

Also I hope something can be done about those spnsors who are still left there. Maybe Admins here can reach out to them and ask them about transferring those servers to post4vps. It's a long shot but worth giving a try.

RE: FreeVPS.us - Conan - 05-01-2018

@xdude
No. It's not the lack of sponsors. As a long time active member, and as confirmed by staff, it is the lack of activity from the community.
The forum still has over 20 VPSs so it shouldn't be the lack of sponsors.

I don't think the hosts who sponsored FreeVPS will allow transferring of the VMs here though. It's better to just request them to sponsor this forum instead. (Which I think won't happen.)

@tiwil
The post standard of FreeVPS isn't that hard to follow. Low quality posts really sucks for the community. It increases spam and generally mis understandings.

RE: FreeVPS.us - xdude - 05-01-2018

@Conan

I have been there too since 2012, every single day. So I have seen how it goes too. Activity creased after loosing half of the servers forum has. That's no rocket science since that means monthly posting would go down 50% too. Those members wouldn't just come and do the posting quota when they don't have a server. Still it doesn't mean the place has gone deserted. Lack of servers made lack of activity it's pretty much normal.

If they had found more sponsors this Lack of Activity thing would have changed to what it used to be. So that's not a valid excuse or members fault. I don't think new staff has the same capacity of old staff. All those capable hands were gone and there were just one of two old mods who know they they were doing. Looking for new sponsors is something ignored for a while. This is what happen when you wait till sponsors to come to you.
