@deanhills
thanks, but no thanks. i don't like pedestals.
Thanks for your suggestions guys. I went ahead and did a googling. It is overwhelming as i feared. But yes. Lots of good materials there. Though I feel discouraged. Cause i hate it how french words can mean so many things. Ambiguous. i dislike ambiguous , highly context based languages. Also i hate how they cram a hundred letters together and forget to pronounce them.

i need an universal translator please.

But the problem is I am not a bodacious babe and Indian males have this really unhelpful reputation online when it comes to girls [not totally undeserved I must accede, what with all the "please sow me your vegena and bobs" and the desperation and immaturity apparently too common and even encouraged in culture and media.]
So why would anyone want to spend time talking or teaching me ?

@chanalku91
another awesome idea. But unfortunately it is often hard for me to detect individual words when they talk normally.
Heh, i dont understand some English accents that well. Like
mississippi accent thick like bayou mud (redneck talk) and many others.

I guess I need to find films where they speak slowly in neutral accent, if that is even a thing in French.

Edit. yeeey. I just tried some youtube videos showing southern accent. I understood most of them. Big Grin

If you have trouble learning it through film
I recommend using the Language Learning Application There There is the best Method that you can try

Talking with a native French person will help you a lot. Apart from the Grammar, all languages have their own native phrases and proverbs etc. Plus There are several parts of a language like Written and Vocal. Fortunately, Languages like English and French don't use different sets of grammar for these. I have known a French person for 15 years and we talk daily. Now she can talk English well but I only know the basic and most often used French words. I think Youtube will help too. It has everything about anything. Also Watching Movies in French will help you to improve hear and understand the language when someone speaking it. Now if you have a busy person then there are lots of phone apps for this too. You can just open the app and learn something new where ever you have a bit of free time.

English is not my native language. I have started learning it when I was 5 years old but hadn't had an interest in it till I was 13. I love reading books. My town's library has a big children's section and a huge collection of English books. I wanted to read those Teen novels soo badly. Series like Secret Seven, Famous Five, Nancy Drew, Hardy Boys etc. I joined the library when I was 12 and finished all the books in native language Children's books in 2 years. That's about 500-700 books. I started drooling on those English books. So first I borrowed a pair of Secret Seven books and started reading those with a dictionary. It took me like a whole day to read just 5 pages. I kept doing that like 6 years. Then suddenly I realized I don't need to look at dictionary like I used to be. After like one year I have started reading without a dictionary. I think the reason is my vocabulary got so big I didn't need to check the dictionary anymore. Good old days. Smile

I suggest doing a French class, In my country, it's mandatory to do either Spanish or French in High school. I took the Spanish route and now I know little bit of Spanish. And it's really easy to pick up french if you know some Spanish. If you don't have a class available then use online apps like duolingo, memrise also buy some books from amazon.

I grew up speaking French and it is one of my favorite skills. The language as a whole is not hard once you learn how to conjugate verbs properly and learn which letters in a word a silent. There are some great French Films, Musicians and even children's books that will be a great jumping off point that will help you start thinking in French. In school I was already fluent by the time I got to secondary school, but one skill I have and love is that I can read in French and speak it right then and there in English. Good luck on your venture and feel free to message me and I would love to be able to teach the language!

i have read some of the comments and most of you suggest to use an online course or an application, in my opinion it is a completely waste of time. it is so hard to learn from it, and you sometimes dont have time to use the application or forget about it and never make a real huge progress. i suggest to learn from a language school or something like that so you wont forget to practice and will make it on time every day and make even faster progress.

I suppose the best method to learn French is to meet some French girls and try dating with one of them.

By doing so, you will learn it super fast. And no need to take any online courses. Good luck men. Smile

Epic suggestion @tryp4vps Tongue Troll

Anyway, personally I learnt a good part of French using the mobile app Duolingo. I'll give an honest opinion, it's one of the best interactive language learning apps out there. You don't feel the need of having a teacher or an instructor, nor someone with whom you could chat in French and improve your fluency. The app has anything and everything that you'll ever need for learning a language from scratch. Smile

I have studied French for likely 3 year on middle school, it was a nightmare. French's vocabolary and prons wasn't suited for me. I mean I am Italian and I am fluent on English, moreover I have started learning the basics of russians and I can say that it is easier for me as language.

Maybe if you follow a professional course with a proper teacher it will be funny.
