I have used VestaCP, its free and good. If you need free web hosting panel then VestaCP is good.

ISPConfig i think that this is the most balanced free hosting panel nowdays. it is secure, because you install manually and you secure manually all elements and because the panel itself is secure and stable enough...
if you want a very easy and quick hosting panel for your server, maybe ISPconfig is not your case. it does not have a one-click installation script, but need work to prepare it. the prize is that when you complete installation and tuning, your life will be easier if you want an advanced panel to use

@hamor cPanel is a PAID control panel, but they only offer 15 days FREE trial if you checked their website http://cpanel.com/, this thread talks about "free web hosting control panel".

VestaVP panel is very easy to install and has good security. KloxoMR has a really nice cPanel like interface. These are my favotite free web hosting control panels.

I'm voting for VestaCP as well, because it has frequent updates, lot of tutorials and support Debian-Ubuntu based distros too.

Recenty I have started teating the Virtualmin panel and Im really impressed with that one. It has little complicated installation process but once you figure that part its all easy. There is this smaller problem, it has different names for things like say for main domain name its called vietual server etc.
What I like about this panel is once you get installed and properly configured it gives you not trouble or glitches unlike with VestaCP and CentOS Web Panel.

Actually since i has an idea with my new project i never use control panel anymore, just simple shell command, but from what i hear out there for free control panel many people like vestacp.
