I managed to apply for a free service.  They did ask for my personal address and phone number, but not more info than one is asked anywhere else.  They didn't ask for credit card info.  They also politely asked whether they may send notifications to me, which I assented to as I'm curious to know what their offers are.

So lets see what will happen.  Sounded like a good name for me for a free or cheap VPS service.

I'm going to wait to see how it progresses, and if not will try the following free VPS suggestion by the same advice:

I've been looking for a few days now to select which reputed host (like AWS, GCP, and Azure) that have free tier for their VPS. This VPS will be used for my new startup and I wanted to start with free before committing to pay them. I've checked similar thread where gave a Quora answer where to host a Node.JS app. The answer also stated some reputed host like AWS, GCP, Azure, and DO.

I already checked GCP and it says it doesn't have a external public IP address so it definitely out from the list. For DO, I think I'll use my student voucher from GitHub Edu (then add $20 more) which allow me to have $10/month VPS for a straight year. For the other two, I don't have any opinion yet since I haven't used it yet. If I need to choose between AWS and Azure, I think I'm going to be more AWS-ish since they product (I believe) is more complete than Azure.

So for the other three, have you guys used them before? How is it likes and which one do you think the most OK to use?

Geekbench 5: Unfortunately Geekbench just exits at the multicore test without finishing and providing the actual result page. No error or anything. So a bit clueless. It exits at the same stage everytime. Probably something that stops it. It could also be caused by the lack of IPv4 (maybe it fails to upload results to the server - and for some reason DNS64 doesn't seem to work for it?).


Byte Unixbench: I actually didn't bother running this benchmark. It would take too long and I guess it would be terminated like the Geekbench benchmark before it could finish or the VPS might get suspended for high resource usage or something like that. Whatever EUServ uses / does to detect and terminate benchmark software.


These small boxes can be used to learn about IPv6 and how to use it with all your common hosted applications (web hosting and etc). You can use CloudFlare CDN to host websites on it that will be reachable over IPv4 too thanks to CloudFlare reverse proxy serving IPv4 and IPv6. Probably even more use cases available where IPv6 traffic and connections are acceptable.

You can access IPv4 content from the server without a IPv4 address by using a DNS64 server for DNS resolution inside the VPS (NAT64 is awesome!):
