Does GDPR apply to US VPS with Europe location?
#1
If my VPS is from the US but its IP location in Europe.  Would the GDPR (EU General Data Privacy Regulations) be applicable to me as well?  How are they going to work it when I'm resident outside the US?  Has anyone researched this and got any answers about this yet?  The rules came into force on 25 May and are applicable to all Websites that have exposure to European locations.

For those who aren't familiar with GDPR (General Data Privacy Regulations), it provides for regulations that are supposed to protect the privacy of users from the EU.  One has to have information on one's Websites that sets out the privacy policy of the Websites at all points where information is asked from the users.  You also have to be responsive to users asking for their data to be deleted.

If you check the latest installations of WordPress, it has some template pages that help with setting up privacy policy pages on one's WP site. I'm sure you can use those for static websites as well.

As I am aware, they do apply to US VPSs with Europe location, but it depends. Have you researched about it?

I'm working on it.  I probably should open a ticket at HostUS where I have a location in Europe and ask them.  They probably will know.
