Google Tools for SEO
#1
When it comes to search engine optimization Google has the full authority in this field since at least 70% of internet surfers use Google. Since Google search engine traffic has become major traffic source most web sites out there It's important for use to see what they offer us as SEO Tools.

Google Webmaster tools -

This is probably the most important Googke tool for you if you focus on Google search traffic. This tool provides you nearly every Google search metric you need to know about your site.
  • Impressions from search.
  • Click Troughs from search.
  • External Links
  • Internal Links
  • Search engine ranking pages.
  • Adding site maps.
  • Google penalty messages.
  • Mobile Usability errors.
There are plenty of other things too but these are important specially last 2 options are very important. You can learn from webmaster tools if you have received a manual action penalty for your website. If you don't have any account you should make one today.

Google analytic

Google analytic gives you indepth details about your search traffic your site has received. In Webmaster tools you learn only about traffic you get from Google itself but here you get information about all traffic sources. Also you can connect this with your AdSense account or Adwords account too. Maybe not important as much as Webmaster tools but if you want to know about your sites traffic sources this is the tool for you.

Google Adwords

This is not exactly a SEO tool. It's Googles advertising platform. But If you want to learn about keywords then this is one of the best free tools out there. With it's Keyword planner option you can learn about all related keyword phrases to your web site and monthly traffic each keyword receive globally and also locally (country wise).

PageSpeed Tools

This tool helps you to find out your site load fast enough or not. Both Desktop and mobile. This is a good tool if you use a CMS such as Wordpress. Because sometimes plugins and themes slow down your web site.

There several more tools which could you useful for you such as,
  • Google Trends
  • Google Places for Business
  • Google Content Experiments
  • Google Consumer Surveys
You can find information about all these tools online. These are not commonly used to everyone but useful if you know how to use.

I agree paid SEO services also harm the reputation and ranking on search engines and Click rate, so these tools are better then a paid SEO service. Paid SEO is only good when they are trusted and having a good review among their customers so watch out before getting a paid SEO service.

Basically these tools are more of analytic tools and won't give you any advantage in search result. So you cant exactly use these as alternatives for link building tools or other SEO packages.

Link building tools or those link packages work great if you know what you are doing. You con't use those blindly without knowing what those do or without a plan. That could do more harm than any help.

Yeah, and just think of the debugging you have to do if you create a major problem 0_0

Good thing is couple of years back Google has given this option called "Disavow links" in webmaster tools. There you can do a full reset of all your backlinks to a website.

Well yeah too many websites and too many webmasters. So much competition. But the good thing is you don't need to stick solo with Google these days. There are plenty of other good traffic sources out there because of Social Media.

Specially if you are targeting younger crowd social media is the best way to get traffic fast.
