Do you think MS- Google tug of war caused demise of Cyanogenmod ? MS was very interesting in acquiring CM. So was Google. They even offered a very huge prize ( in billions ) which didn't go through the CM team.
They were very promising. Maybe, it is not easy to do something like what CM did unless you have a very strong backer.

some of the reason cyanogenmod closing is because they are enthusiast focused company and as you know enthusiast focused company mostly is reverse the bussines 101 tactics and that is why most enthusiast focused is failing

and i think cyanogenmod want to close because they know they will fail because they are trying to be not only for enthusiast but for normal consumer too but that is fail . they actuaqlly attempt to bundle cyanogenmod with phone but fail

Cyanogenmod project is closed perhaps there is one that can replace cyanogen and thats called lineage i heard its based on source available through cyanogen project. Who knows maybe the new one is good enough as cyanogen or just regular project.

There is a lot of competition going on. Cyanogenmod closed because there were other rivals who were competing with it. It was closed because it was not making enough profits to make stakeholders happy.
