i want to attempt at answering a question in the opening post.
"does openvz will affect my game servers performance ..." ??
this depends on the condition of the host system. if it is overloaded , then yours may even run slower on a KVM system. Now theoretically, if you are using a totally free system and checking an openvz against a KVM of similar specs to run the server, then kvm is probably going to run a bit faster. it has more direct access to hardware. so latency and responsiveness is supposed to be better.
but this is just common sense and you know how fallible it can be at times. just check my new thread on hardware forum.
