This is my desktop. I like to keep it clean, hiding all the shortcuts I have in the folder. Sometimes I just minimize what I'm doing and enjoy the elegance of a desktop that isn't cluttered with shortcuts for programs I haven't opened in 4 months. Everything that I would like to access quickly is in my task bar anyway. Also, the taskbar being that neat took about 30 minutes of going into windows settings and getting rid of all the default shit. I wish it could be animated, but I still have trouble finding any good software for this. I have tried things like wallpaper engine, but it eats up so much system resources. Even when I had everything turned off except displaying a still picture, it had tapped into 10% of my GPU processing power. Seriously, it took 10% of a 1060 Ti to show a single image. And even when I kept it like that while playing a game, I was miraculously getting serious lag issues that I had never faced before opening wallpaper engine for the first time. I have had no more luck with other software for desktop backgrounds. And this was long ago so I can't exactly remember what the issue was, but plain ol' gifs do not work either. I have tried and tried, so the desktop will just but a still image.

the dynamic wallpaper engine is probably inefficient . By the way cool dual monitor setup . Does improve productivity a lot . And as i know there are no 1060 Ti maybe what you mean is gtx 1060 6gb or 1050 ti? .

It's a normal 1060. I used to have a 1050 Ti and sometimes I get them mixed up so lol.

Anyway, to answer your question, dual monitors is like a lot of other conveniences in the world. Nobody puts forth the money at first because they think "I don't need that." Then they finally figure "Ah, what the hell?" and get it. And after that, they can't live without it. That's exactly what happened with me and almost all of my other friends who have multiple monitors. Whenever I am coding, I can leave my code up and examine it as I go through dev docs, or watch netflix when I'm doing something mind-numbing. I can skip the song I don't like without having to tab out or any of that, I can just whip my cursor over, click, and back to work I go. It is also really handy to use with IDE plguins. For example, when I am making a front end with visual studio code, I have an extension that launches it on a local http server. The browser page auto-refreshes any time a document is altered. I keep the browser on one monitor and the code on another, and that way I just save, and the results appear in less than a second. It's the handiest thing.

Here is my normal desktop. Absolutely nothing fancy. All the important programs are pinned to the taskbar. On the desktop I only have the wastebasket and a RDP shortcut to my server.

why you hide it?
i currently dont hide any icon but if i want i use the invisible folder or disguise as other application . this works very well i used it to prank people where i replace mozilla firefox with shutdown command . you can also make hidden folder with blank unicode . just search it in character map
