Only 4 or 5 AV's are there that are good.
1. Bitdefender Total Security 2015
2. Norton
3. Kaspersky
4. Malwarebytes (It is not an AV, it is anti malware)
5. Avast (maybe)

Yes, you are wrong, because they were first who introduced cloud scanning technology, which analyzing your files not on your HDD/SSD but on Panda servers. This saves a lot of CPU resources to the users. Nowadays all major big antivirus company like Eset (Nod32), Norton, Kaspersky, etc. use the same technology, but still Panda is one of the best antivirus.

That is an another question that their firewall technology is not as good Comodo Internet Security's firewall, Zone Alarm Internet Security's Firewall and Outpost Security Suite Pro's firewall. Because these are the best firewalls, but their antivirus engine is just average or below average.

If you want to achieve the best protection then you must use two different product: one firewall and one antivirus.

My personal opinion is that Comodo Firewall (this is free) and plus Kaspersky, Panda, Bitdefender, Norton, or Nod32 combination is the best.

Just a side note, because you mentioned Avast as the best security software:
I do not recommend Avast, I don't trust them anymore, since they created and forced their own SSL certification to all the websites on the internet if you use their product. So they can view, or store your accounts, usernames, passwords, e-mails, even if you use Gmail, or internet banks. I didn't say that they really view and store it, but they can if they would like to.
