I have used lots of OSs from XP to Linux to Android and even to customized Linux (Kali).
Let me get in detail of OSs I have used:
Windows XP was as simple as typewriter. It was so user convenient and user-interface was brilliant. I learned computer in that OS so I do miss it. The support have been official closed but people still use it customized.
Windows 7 is another stable version from Microsoft. It was faster and reliable than Windows XP. It brought more features and tools than XP. It was little hard to understand the OS at the beginning but after I got used to it, Windows 7 became my best OS and I still have it installed in my old laptop.
Windows 8 or 8.1 was the newest launch after Windows 7. I didn't like it much and I think most of the people didn't like it either. It was too buggy. I had a lot of errors, crashes and BSOD. It's my personal opinion because I had to deal with lots of issues in that particular OS.
Windows 10 finally came into the market after Windows 8 literally didn't do well. It had little glitches at the beginning but after the upgrades, it became fine. I have it on my new laptop now. It is working well and I am loving it. It is somehow stable nowadays.
Linux is something I learned in days before because I had to own an IRC Server. There weren't much Windows VPS at that time. So, I learned OSs like CentOS and Debian.
CentOS: I used to love this OS as it was very easy to work with. But, I encounter with a glitch and it got hard to deal with. So, I moved to Debian.
Debian: This is the OS I still use on my VPS. It's stable and less buggy. A choice I made after CentOS.
I have used some customized Linux Oss like Kali Linux for educational propose. It is a powerful OS for hacking, cracking or penetrating.
This is the point of the view I have encountered and is my personal opinion.
But, For the choice, I will go with Windows 7 for it's simplicity, reliability and stability.
