Nope. You cannot pick any location you want.

You will possibly be able to choose your preferred location only if there are more than one VPS 9 available. Now because all the rest VPS 9 are taken except one (i.e.: only one VPS 9 is available for this month), there must be only one location available. But unfortunately it is not so clear which exact location is available now. That was why I somehow mentioned earlier that @perryoo11 should also include the location information in his OP.

If it helps, I've got fine connectivity to all of them. There wasn't really a huge difference in all the US servers and the ones overseas were still reasonably fast. My ISP isn't particularly fast, but it is rock solid.

I suspect I'm going to have a whole bunch of questions, when I do get started. I've used VPSs before. This time, I'll be doing things like installing a control panel and that's going to be interesting. I'm also a daily Linux user, so that'll help. I use Linux as my desktop and have for a long time.

I suspect I'll be changing distros. Instead of using Lubuntu, I'll be using CentOS. Probably... I expect I'll build and burn to the ground quite a few times before I'm happy.

I also included that I figure I can *maybe* fit the project into a VPS 4 or 5. As it's not production, I don't much care if I have to restore frequent backups and things like that.

I expect to learn a lot with this project. I'm looking forward to it. I am going to bug you folks with so many questions!

I should have been more precise with my language. By "fake traffic", I mean simulated traffic. It won't actually be traffic from an actual outside source, but will be done with load testing traffic simulation.

I apologize for not being more specific and using a poorly chosen word. It'll just be simulated traffic so that I can observe and log. From there, I can work on optimization - which is my ultimate goal.

No, I don't care about outside traffic much. I'll put a public-facing website on the server, but it's mostly just to develop on. The public facing web site will be one that I can share links to and will have references to post4vps and to the sponsor. I might actually turn it into a bit of a development blog, so I can detail my processes and what I am able to learn.

Again, sorry for the lack of precise language. I've absolutely no intentions of playing with traffic exchanges or anything like that. I don't actually expect to use much bandwidth. I expect to use more CPU and RAM, which is why I requested the VPS 9.
