The guide is for Ubuntu/Debian. So I guess if you cannot adopt it to CentOS you have to switch OSs.

The great thing about FreeNX/x2Go is that it works over SSH. So if you can access SSH on your server this FreeNX/x2Go remote desktop will work 100% if you set it up correctly with XFCE.

I always used it on Debian if I needed a desktop and it always worked perfectly and quite fast even on slow connections unlike VNC.
