While I was Googling the subject I found this interesting application for teachers for creating video teaching material - that is free to teachers and students for the PRO version:

All what they did is had a black background (possibly a green screen), then a clear sheet of glass/plastic in front of the person. So when the person in the video writes on the clear glass/plastic, it looks like they’re writing on the screen (since the camera can’t see the plastic/glass because it’s transparent). However, it will look like the person is writing from the wrong side (right to left instead of left to right) since the camera is opposing the writing. But that’s also an easy fix as all they have to do is invert the video.

Quite funny how the simplest of little video tricks can actually make something seem more complicated than it actually is.
