I myself prefer Simple Machines Forum. As the proccess of installing it as easy as hell. I think even a 5 years old kid can install it 
. Jokes Apart, Simple Machine Forum are quite good. And they loads really fast. They have a lot of plugins and Themes. Another free forum script I like is Wedge. Though it has a lot of bugs and not fully ready yet and a small amount of plugin, but it has some great features. I like it too.
