A tough-minded drama about two friends in South Central Los Angeles and the violence that comes between them. Jim Davis is an ex-Army Ranger who finds himself slipping back into his old life of petty crime after a job offer from the LAPD evaporates. His best friend is pressured by his girlfriend Sylvia to find a job, but Jim is more interested in hanging out and making cash from small heists, while trying to get a law enforcement job so he can marry his Mexican girlfriend.

Actually a really great movie about two friends trying to get their stuff together and get jobs. However they are still like teenagers in their mind. So they don't take things serious. When the table turns and both get a real chance for a job and finally get the position they decide to celebrate. From there on everything becomes a nightmare.

Worth to watch it . Christian Bale as always playing his role perfectly.

A story of family, religion, hatred, oil and madness, focusing on a turn-of-the-century prospector in the early days of the business. The intersecting life stories of Daniel Plainview and Eli Sunday in early twentieth century California is presented. Miner turn oilman Daniel Plainview is a driven man who will do whatever it takes to achieve his goals. He works hard but he also takes advantage of those around him at their expense if need be. His business partner is his son H.W., who in reality he "acquired" when H.W.'s biological single father, who worked on one of Daniel's rigs, got killed in a workplace accident. Daniel is deeply protective of H.W. if only for what H.W. brings to the partnership. Eli Sunday is one in a pair of twins, whose family farm Daniel purchases for the major oil deposit located on it. Eli, the local preacher and a self-proclaimed faith healer, wants the money from the sale of the property to finance his own church. The lives of the two competitive men often clash as Daniel pumps oil off the property and tries to acquire all the surrounding land at bargain prices to be able to build a pipeline to the coast, and as Eli tries to build his own religious empire.

A brilliant movie about the blood of the United States. OIL! You know what the US does for OIL. Starting wars, taking over countries, etc.. It all goes back so far and further.
