Face Masks - choosing better masks to be safer from COVID 19

This study published in a very important journal says,

if even half the population wear good masks carefully, then it will have enough overall impact to halt the exponential growth in patient numbers.

So our question is, what constitutes a good mask then ?

here is a study that says stitched quilting cotton fabric face mask is best in stopping the tiny droplet jets.

https://aip.scitation.org/doi/10.1063/5.0016018

it uses two layers. I read somewhere that WHO is recommending to use 3 layers.

so now you know the material.

about design... it should match with your face as best as possible to minimize air getting in n out through the sides. so face hugging designs are better.

please don't use those tiny bands of clothes with elastic bands on both ends. they are shyte.

here is a Washington post link with great DIY mask design guide.

EDIT. PLEASE DON'T USE MUSKS WITH VALVE. the valve let's you exhale easily. but it increases risk for others. musk is meant to protect those wearing it as well as others around them.

So, Lots of people here are not even interested in using a masks, I was going to buy some grocery annd i met my friend he was not wearing a masks, I adviced him to wear a mask as he drives a bike it's not safe at all, He told me that corona is fake and stuff i ignored him

Getting to your topic, I recently bought a box of surgical masks which is 4 layers it says and i have confirmed but it is still kinda thin, It worries me alot still! Any advice are surgical masks are better
About the masks which seems to be really protective and everyone seems to be buying which cost around 2-3$ normally surgical masks cost 0.15$.
KN95 masks with filter are really adviced in pakistan now, It covers your face and your nose perfectly.

Another weird thing, Instead of buying legit masks from pharmacy or a medical store, People are buying masks from outside people which makes these masks from cloths which are not protective at all.

surgical musk is designed to do barrier protection against droplets and does not have an air-tight seal that is required in this pandemic. but it is better to use one than none. though the experiment in the link i gave above, shows the quilting cotton cloth mask is best when made properly with a good fit. and you can clean and reuse for long time.

the n95 musk you have link to, has 5 ply and very good form that seems to help get good fit. BUT big issue is the valve near the mouth. this valve let's you breath out directly without pressure. very very bad. Musk should be used for everyone's protection. for you and from you. don't use such musks if you can help it. or put a cloth on it to block.

another issue with n95 is its limited use. 5 to say 15 times. proper decontamination without damaging the layers require hydrogen peroxide mist or UV rays. also you can't do that many times without damaging. there is usually an active charcoal layer too. so cleaning in soap water.....hehehe.... out of question.

also these cost a lot. so i would say don't.
