I want to know what the general opinion is of people here at post4vps of sponsors in general. Do you think that there is a decline in sponsors and if yes, do you have factual information to back this up with - why do you think so?
Please note the discussion isn't specifically about post4vps. It's about sponsors in general.

Let me clear it out, most of the hosting companies are interested in a sponsorship, but it depends on what type of sponsorship is given. Some of the hosting companies would never prefer to just have a single link to show that they are sponsoring. That is quite obvious, they are providing the host that actually worth more than $50-$60, and just a single link on a forum isn't going to give them any good interest. Now thing is, why do companies sponsor? To increase their sales, to spread the company name which they can do other web hosting forums by putting a sticky thread which has HUGE amount of traffic, gets more than millions visitor per day. Or even a banner in same cost of $50-$60. In fact on a free VPS provider forum, most of the people come up for free things so actually thats not much going to increase their sales.
Otherwise if good ways are created which companies will have interest in, sponsors will just increase, they come for their benefit, that is obvious.

That's a good point. I also think about this. If customer find Post4VPS and find a good provider. Then, why they should buy from the provider? Why not just use the forum and get the VPS for free. I mean, yes, they should work for it, but, why not?
Maybe, some of us also rent VPSes from free VPS providers, but not that much. (If I'm not wrong, @deanhills you're buying a VPS too from the free VPS providers right?). But, not that much. Like me, to be honest, I'm only interested with free VPS. And not planning to buy/rent any kind of VPS. With my current VPS 8, I can even do anything I want to.

I agree and disagree with some of waht @Lampard said.
What he said on users of these kind of forums is kind of true. A lot would just rather post here at least once per day instead of spare a few bucks. (Well, given that a lot of the most likely market for these kind of sites is youngsters who want to run game servers. I was also one of them years ago.)
Sure. There might be some hosts interested. But I don't think there's a lot now.
I'm interested in the conversion rate of the users here. How many of the current and previous VM holders here started getting paid VMs?
@tiwil I'm pretty sure @deanhills does. I've seen him mention it somewhere. But yes. I don't see a lot of users doing that.
There are merits in being a paying customer anyways. Direct support is one of them.

@tiwil @Conan Correct. I have a VPS from HostUS.us, but it is so cheap, maybe it doesn't count. I pay only 2 US$ a month for a VPS with 1 CPU core and 768 RAM. What I like about HostUS is that they have locations all over the world.
I hope that if @Dynamo and @perryoo11 haven't already done so that they will contact HostUS for sponsorship. HostUS really knows how to create good VPSs.
@Lampard Thank you for the great feedback. Message I take from it is that the focus in approaching them should always be what is going to be in it for them. Maybe a banner ad for x number of times and back links from all the users of the VPSs.

I've heard good things about them at FreeVPS.us as well. Looks as though they're on the high end of technology with cloud computing and are offering interesting rates too - hourly as well as monthly.
