Microsoft is acquiring Github
#1
As a developer, I am a bit unwilling to hear this news today:

https://blog.github.com/2018-06-04-github-microsoft/

I am a frequent Github user myself. Perhaps it is time to switch to Gitlab or Bitbucket.

What do you think?

Sounds as though someone got rich overnight and sold out. Which is sad. I'd stay with it to watch what Microsoft does with it. Depending on what the leadership is going to do with their acquisition, they could structure it better and make it more accessible like Microsoft did with Skype, however if I were a serious developer I'd do what you are thinking about doing and branch out to alternatives.

Regardless, it's sad. I just hate it when a major player gets involved in the creative side as no doubt they will put their monopoly stamp on it as per usual.

Will they make it a complete business site?
Something fishy, I don't like this update as everyone, bright future for GitHub owner and a nightmare for GitHub users. I think GitHub will be inaccessible soon.

Thank you  Sweet

I hope not, but no one knows for sure. Microsoft has not released any solid plan about what changes they will implement on Github.

But it seems many users also fear about the changes and have already started moving to Gitlab.

No Problem, There are many other for that.Like Gitlab. But most of the programmers were using Github.

Haha @Rehan  That sounds like a great idea.  Nice theme for a movie.  But maybe not as farfetched as one thinks.  If one really starts thinking about the significance of Microsoft going for mostly Linux system development looks as though they may be moving one step ahead of Google - choosing not to do the hard work but buying the hard work instead.  For me it will be interesting to see how Google will be responding, particularly since Google is very big on development.

Well this news irritated me, Microsoft destroy everything it touches. Looks at Skype and LinkedIn now, Skype is a mess while LinkedIn is a privacy nightmare. Another problem is the fundamental working of Microsoft is closed source and it shouldn't touch open source unless it open sources it software. My guess is that now they will monetize GitHub with their azure services and making it more privacy nightmare than it already is. GitHub also has a problem, it's closed source also so I would look elsewhere just for that, gitlab, gitea and bitbucket are awesome alternative altough I don't suggest bitbucket as its way to connected to atlassin other software and services.
No one knows what the future holds, that's why its potential is infinite

This is very sad, but it happens to many companies. People end up selling their stuff for money. Microsoft is no different.
Thank you VPSlices and Post4VPS for your beautiful VPS!
