I am looking forward to a device just like chromecast which makes out home lighting smart. You will be needing some hi fi device as a hub and a few smart bulbs to control everything. Then, everything is governed your mobile phone, or an app in it.

How does it work ? Do we have some kind of board included in the bulb ? Any hub available as well ?

If you want a light that can be controlled by your smartphone, then i suggest you to buy from an online where it just costs only $2, you can even change the light colour.

Any particular brand you have in mind ? If I remember correctly, Xiaomi smart light one piece is almost $ 35 ~ 40. Xiaomi is know for cheap price tags as well.

Smart lights are costly in it's current form. I am sure Google would find some way to add smart lights to Google Home app. Could even link to Google home device.

Philips has the best Smart Light system, they call it Philips Hue, but unfortunately it's very pricey. It costs about 200 dollars.

I'm planing to buy Philips SceneSwitch which is much cheaper, but not that smart.
Just 10 dollars per each bulb and I can control the light brightness, or the color temperature from the wall switch.

Is it worth to buy them now, maybe wait when they will be cheaper and more popular?
Do they use more energy than normal bulbs?

It works using IoT technology, and yeah they look pretty good honestly but I think they're not much frequently used at the moment, but perhaps in the future..?
