Here the problem is if we increase the characters limit then users try to write more than what they can currently write in Thier signature and by doing that they would lead up stretching their signature like lengthy post which isn't what the signatures are made up for, they are made up for showing brief info by the user's.
Users should learn managing their signature space smartly..
